A boy, Chad, confined to a wheelchair, raises pigeons, and they are the therapy that he needs to walk again, when he forgets his own troubles to try to save his favorite pigeon.
Young Chad Smith becomes an invalid after a baseball game, and is forced to trade in his favorite pastime for pigeon racing. Through this newfound hobby, he develops affection for one of his pigeons who suddenly flies away, in order to escape a neighborhood predator. Filmed mostly in documentary style, the movie tells the tale of this special pigeon and his journey throughout the countryside, before his eventual return to the boy who loved him.—Daniel Timothy Dey
