Beautifully reinventing the story of Ravana into a complete different thing with enough doses of comedy and nostalgia. Even though the film depends upon some outdated social constructs it can be justified with how it uses that social constructs itself to deconstruct it even though in a subtle way. The music and locations really add the enjoyment of the film. Mammooty's role as Shankar Das aka Kuttishankaran who calls himself the "hurting millionaire" who makes you laugh and cry and give nostalgia at the same time and Shreenivasan's Ambujakshan's story narration are some iconic moments in Malayalam films.

Warning: Spoilers
It may be the first time out for Mammootty as the anti hero but he rocks in this movie. Mammootty plays the character Shanker Das, a sort of Don from Bombay, who comes to his native village to see his love interest played by Bhanu Priya. But nobody recognizes his as he ran away when still young of age. Sreenivasan portrays the character of Shanker Das's friend who is a novelist. The right amount of comedy and drama is blended by Sreenivasan and Mammootty to make the audience laugh and think at the same time. The climax scenes are the best i have seen in any movie and Mammootty's performance is a praise worthy one. Cochin Haneef chips in with a supporting role along with Biju Menon. Mammootty pictured as an anti hero may not be up to the liking of many people but if you admire the art of cinema this is a must see.
The theme followed in this movie is 'Money can't buy love'

The best of the best Malayalam movies ever made. Watching this movie is similar to reading a book. Climax of this movie is beyond words. Anybody wanting to watch a Malayalam movie, I would any day suggest this movie. The basic theme followed in this movie is 'Money cannot buy love'. Kudos to the makers of this movie.
