Things became from bad to worse between Moushumi Chatterjee and Rajesh Khanna during the making of the film. The film's shooting was also stalled due to this. In a interview with Cineblitz magazine in 1984, Moushumi narrated a story. Stories of Moushumi Chatterjee's supposed affair with Vinod Mehra were doing the rounds in the mid 70's. This was due to both of them signing so many films together. Moushumi always denied this allegation. Rajesh Khanna was always aware of this supposed affair and thought that Moushumi would also be available for him too. One day after pack up, Rajesh Khanna invited himself into Moushumi's hotel room. She was surprised to see him there at such a late hour. That was when Rajesh Khanna attempted to get romantic with Moushumi. Moushumi backed off and told Khanna she was married and pregnant. Plus she was never attracted to him. She only found Dharmendra attractive and always had a huge crush on him. Khanna could not bear this and started verbally abusing Moushumi. He asked her if her unborn second child was her husband Babu's or Vinod Mehra's. This was when things got worse. Dimple Kapadia was pregnant with Rinke at the time and Moushumi asked Rajesh Khanna if the baby was his or Rishi Kapoor's. Rajesh decided to stop signing films with Moushumi and always started to stall Prem Bandhan's shooting. Years later they patched up and apologized to each other for their childish behavior during the making of Prem Bandhan.
