Great game! Kept me going for a looooooooong time. I can't wait until they make it into a GBA version! This is Mario's best adventure, namingly because it is: A) An RPG B) You can play as new characters (I.E: Bowser, Mallow, ect.) and C) Great Story and Humour. Good length and mystery. 11/10

Easily the best video game ever
movieguy102116 September 2002
What makes Super Mario RPG different from the other Mario games is that it's more fun. You are Mario. After saving Princess Toadstool from Bowser yet again, a giant sword crashes into Bowser's castle, sending the three of them off to different places in the world. You have to defeat the sword, from the infamous Smithy gang, and save Toadstool yet again.

The graphics look too good to be true. It doesn't look like a 16-bit system. The replay value is stupendous. You can never grow tired of it. You know what you're supposed to do, but there are so many other littler things that you may bypass the first time (such as Yoshi Island or the casino). You cannot compare it to Super Mario World; they are two completely different games. Super Mario World is a side-scroller; in RPG you can move freely. That opens up a whole new dimension to video games.

Along Mario's path to Smithy, he meets Mallow, a "frog" who cannot jump, Geno, a doll from outer space, Bowser (yes, even he joins the group), and eventually, Toadstool (who is quite a formidable fighter). Each one of them has their strength and weaknesses. The seven worlds you go through are memorable. Something else that is unique is that you may defeat a boss in world 1, and meet him again in world 6. There are more than just 5 recurring characters. You also learn about each character (like Mallow's past), and (this may sound ridiculous for a video game), you care about the characters. Find me another game that does that.

RPG is the best game ever created. I was not a big RPG fan, but I liked Mario, so I bought it. I love it a lot, and I know a lot of other Mario fans can justify with me with saying this is the best video game out there. If you have some spare change and a SNES around, buy this immediately.

My rating: 10/10

My first turn-based RPG that I played since Dragon Warrior when I was a child...
justin-fencsak2 September 2010
It was this game that lured me into getting turn-based RPGs (Final Fantasy, Xenosaga, Lunar, Hack). Created by the same people who made Final Fantasy a reality, and released by Nintendo, this was the last great SNES game ever. I rented this game from a local Blockbuster and enjoyed the game play, the graphics, the music, but not the difficulty. As you level up in the game, the enemies become harder to kill, thus I never finished the game. Compared to other RPGs, this is no easy piece of cake. Yet it provided hours of fun for the casual gamer who preferred Zelda. A classic of the 90's, and a must-have for fans of Mario, Final Fantasy, and turn-based RPGS in general that anyone can play.

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars!
Movie Nuttball16 September 2004
Super Mario Bros. is one of the most famous video games of all time! The characters, the jumping, the power-ups, and the sure thrill of adventure makes this entire series a fun non-stop playing time! Below is a brief look how I think the game is!

Game Play: The game play is very good. There is really basic controls here and is easy to perform. Novice gamers should have a good time here!

Graphics: The graphics are wonderful. The backgrounds are really beautiful!

Difficulty: The game is easy but as it goes on you''s find out that it will become more difficult!

Music: Just fantastic catchy tunes through out the game! In My opinion its some of the best music ever in a video game!

Sound: The sound is great. Nuff said!

Overall: I have always loved Super Mario Brothers! If you like excellent adventure games then I strongly recommend you play this game!

Boring for those who don't like turned based RPG's
Tplj191922 December 2007
The very first RPG's I've ever played were turn-based, so at the time I enjoyed this game! However aftering playing the secret of mana series, chrono trigger, and world of warcraft (lol, if wow is an RPG)I find this RPG to be boring. It isn't just because it is turned based, but also the annoying encounters that happen when you run into a mob.

If they would of made this RPG in a attack quick format, as well as not in encounter form I would love it!

This game isn't worth the average 30$ that you see it for on ebay I only typed that last line because this ten line thing is complete BS. Anyone else feel me?

The reason to keep your SNES around.
flourish_and_blotts3 November 2003
Hands down the best game I have ever played for SNES. I am not a big video gamer, in fact I basically suck at most, but this one I love. It's so cute and charming, and funny! Full of cute little gags. But don't get me wrong this is no child's game. There are puzzles even to challenge adults alike. The only reason I would recommend keeping a SNES around is for this game. The graphics may not come close recent game systems, but I have never played a game that has come close to this game's charm and playability.

Mario's Greatest adventure!!!!!!!!
Komplex Intelligence15 March 2001
This is possibly the best game for the SNES. The Three greatest games for SNES are: Legend of Zelda:Link to the past, Kirby Superstar, and SMRPG. Nintendo and squaresoft worked together in 1996 to try something new with everyones favorite SuperHuman Plumber by putting him in a new RPG adventure with all kinds of new friends and enemies never imagined.

Many people say it's easy and that is true, but there is so much to find and go after. Alot better than the lame save the princess plot. It brings a whole new world. And then some.

This is one of Marios only games that is not just another cliche of the classics. I mean the Mario Games for N64 get really old. And I was really disappointed at the pointless Paper Mario.

Overall Mario fans will be pleased at this SNES masterpiece, RPG fans might think it's too easy but will like it a little, and those that are neither one, but like any video games will try to find other things in the game.

My favorite character would have to be Geno because he is the most mysterious main character plus I like the Geno Boost attack which if you do just right can hit 9999 points on opponent. And I also like Booster because he's strange, him and his snifits, and the funniest scene in the game was when he tried to have a wedding with Toadstool and do other stuff with her.

Well If you still have your old SNES, and have a little cash, go and buy it. If your tired of your Same old Mario crap, want a different kind of RPG,or just want a cool game, this is for you.

The Best Game In History For The SNES
alexterrell-129 May 2004
Warning: Spoilers
When I first got this game, I was quite amazed, and a tad confused; it being the first RPG game I had ever played, but still... It certainly wins a place in my list of the best games ever!

*****SPOILERS AHEAD!!!***** (Actually the first part of the game)

Mario (Everyone's favorite plumber/hero) starts out his day going to rescue Princess Peach from the infamous Bowser (What a surprise). He is shot out of the castle when a mysterious GIANT sword comes down from a giant cloud (Later known as Star Road), and smashes into Bowser's Castle, also dropping 7 stars from Star Road (Hence the name of the game). Mario returns when a disappointed Toad tells him to go back and rescue peach. The giant sword becomes angry and destroys the bridge to Bowser's Castle. One thing leads to another and Mario meets Mallow, a tadpole(?) who can't jump, who has been mugged by a purple crocodile named Croco. Mario recruits Mallow, and they retrieve Mallow's coin back. When they return to town, WOW! The town is being attacked by mysterious Shy Guys on springs. Their leader Mack, a smaller sword... Thing with a bandanna fights Mario. Once Mario wins, a blue star, (The 1st of the 7) is found. Mario later must find ALL of the 7 to repair the Star Road... Or else no one's wishes will ever come true again!!! Overall, fun fun fun, with old and new characters like Geno, Peach, and yes, Bowser. 10/10

Love Mario? Love RPGs? You'll love this!
psychocanuck9 August 2001
Will Bowser ever tire of kidnapping Princess Toadstool? Apparently not. But that's OK because this game is great. Mario has found ways to kill enemies other than jumping on them or shooting them (although he still does both in this game) Build levels, gain attacks, get weapons and armor, all that stuff that you always have in RPGs. There are all sorts of interesting characters you meet up with, and by the end you have quite the motley crew (including the princess and Bowser, yes Bowser)
