A One-L Lama Is A Priest
When Lupino Lane is fired from the fire brigade, he builds his own station and goes into business for himself. Betty Caldwell spurns him until her house is on fire.
Lupino Lane made the transition from star of silent comedy to star of talking comedy with this short. While some of the sound gags work, and Lane is certainly capable of taking the wild falls, the transition from silence to sound meant a constant cranking speed, except for those scenes shot wild. This means that the grace of his tumbling is available only erratically.
