In the beginning of world war one Lucien Bersot, a farrier and young father has joined the army.During the distribution of clothes Lucien receives white trousers instead of the regular red trousers. Some days later during a troop inspection an officer insists that Lucien must wear the regular red trousers; a sergeant presents him red trousers with blood stains coming from a corpse of a soldier.Lucien does not accept these red trousers and is then arrested until his judgment in the martial court. Le pantalon is based on the true story of Lucien Bersot who was sentenced to death and who has been rehalitated by the Supreme Court on july 23rd 1923: his name has been added in the momument of the died soldiers in Authoison (Haute-Saone).Alain Scoff wrote the novel "Le Pantalon" about the tremendous event during the world war one in France. The director of the film is Yves Boissset: I have seen three of his films: Un condé (1970), Folle à tuer (1975) and Le juge Fayard dit le shériff (1977) !! And now Le Pantalon (1997), a very good film about injustice during the war.Last comment: I didn't know the main actor, Wadeck Stanczak, his performance as Lucien Bersot is excellent.I saw him later en a crime story called "Brigade des mineurs (1999) of Michaella Watteaux.
