- The story follows a troubled woman and her search for identity. She is given a choice between a return to the dysfunction of the past, or a new life in self assumed identity.
- Lola is an eccentric woman in her 30s who lives in a daze of girlish expectations, not knowing what to believe, or what to expect from life, and never clear about where things are heading. Her relationship is in a constant state of confusion, mostly because her husband Mike behaves more like her father than a partner. He is short-tempered and egotistical, with little tolerance for her indecisiveness, so the two coexist in a lavish environment of sterility and tension. Lola's life takes a sudden turn when she saves the life of a mysterious woman. Sandra is everything Lola wants to be: confident, outspoken, in control of her destiny. But the promise of a relationship between the two women is cut short when Sandra's dark past catches up with her. On the run from this fateful encounter, but too scared to return home, Lola goes on the road to fulfill the destiny of a woman she barely knows. As she moves through the landscape toward Sandra's childhood home, she slowly starts to absorb her friend's identity.—Anonymous
- In their marriage based in Vancouver, Lola is dependent on Mike, the household breadwinner, who constantly berates her in not having an identity. Lola moves from one endeavor to another - the latest being to design unique women's fashions for consignment sale - in an effort to have some sort of identity, each venture ending before she really starts in Mike's denigration of her and her work. In any of their big blow ups, Lola, who has no family supports, will pack a bag, leave for a day to spend a night in a hotel, before she returns home to Mike for the cycle to start all over again. After their latest fight, Lola, still with overnight bag in hand, instead ends up calling Sandra, a grateful woman she met who she saved from being run over in traffic. Sandra is an outgoing, up front type of woman, who nonetheless has her own issues, which are partly manifested in hiding her own identity behind a blonde wig. Following an incident with Sandra, Lola seizes upon an opportunity of sorts which takes her into the interior of British Columbia on a journey of self-discovery and on a task to put some closure on an issue in Sandra's life that Sandra can no longer complete herself.—Huggo
