- Rebels band together to bring down a power-hungry corporation controlling the world government with a violent iron-fist.
- The Ultor Corporation is a mining company on Mars where miners try to find precious minerals, as the supply on Earth has run low. Although Ultor promises happiness and wealth, the miners are brutally harassed by guards, they eat lousy food, and they spend 10 hours drenched in sweat in an envirosuit. If that's not bad enough, miners share bunks and envirosuits in shifts. An infectious disease known as The Plague is also wiping out miners and is spreading fast. Luckily, a rebellious group of miners known as the Red Faction and their leader Eos are encouraging miners to revolt against Ultor. It could start any minute.
One day, a miner known as Parker witnesses a security guard harassing a young miner. The two get into a fight and both are killed. The rebellion starts here.
Parker begins fighting the security guards and joins the Red Faction. With the help of the miners, he finds out that the surviving miners are planning to steal a shuttle to depart Mars back to Earth. He begins moving toward the docking bay. He begins getting messages from an Ultor security technician known as Hendrix who is secretly helping the miners. When Parker gets there however, the shuttle leaves without him, only to be demolished by Ultor's missile battery.
Parker begins to move toward the Red Faction Base when he receives orders from Eos to destroy a geothermal power plant run by Ultor technicians. After traversing through an abandoned mining complex, he makes it to the power plant, but all the miners who also where attempting to destroy it were killed in combat. With the help of a technician, he manages to destroy the power plant. He escapes using the nearby submarine bay.
Eos instructs Parker to kidnap Ultor's deputy administrator, Gryphon, who has an office in an underwater administration. Parker grabs a business suit for disguise and manages to get to Gryphon's office. Gryphon explains to him that he has vital information for Eos. Gryphon is escorted through maintenance areas where he is picked up by Eos's best lieutenant, Orion.
Gryphon gives Eos very important information which includes Parker needing to grab Capek, a nanotech scientist. Parker goes through Ultor's science and medical labs and meets Capek. Capek refuses to be taken anywhere and suggests that Parker not follow him. Parker does so anyway and travels through underground caverns that leads to a large underwater lab where Capek is working with nanotechnology.
Parker is led to Capek's inner sanctum. Eos breaks into the lab and aids Parker in the battle. They manage to break through Capek's nanotech shield and defeat him. Eos interrogates the dying man and learns how to use an antidote to stop The Plague. The lab begins a self-destruct timer and Eos tells Parker to evacuate the lab before they both die. Parker seems to have no choice but to leave Eos there to find the antidote.
Hendrix explains to Parker that Eos was planning to call in a rescue fleet known as the Earth Defense Force. He can put out a distress call at a communications center at the end of a large canyon. Parker makes it there, only to find it infested by mercenaries. These mercenaries were apparently kept in reserve in case of a revolt, and they began to come out as Capek was murdered. They are led by Colonel Masako, a real nasty piece of work. Parker fights through them and sends out the distress call.
Parker's next assignment would be to enter a tram tunnel and fire missiles from Ultor's Missile Command Center to destroy an orbiting space station's laser defense system. He does so and escapes.
Parker finds himself back in his demolished tram car and is informed by Hendrix that he needs to make it to the space station to destroy a satellite system that will bombard the Earth Defense Force unless it is silenced. He stows away on a space ship and makes it safely to the space station. He destroys the satellite computers and overloads the station's reactor. He makes a narrow escape in an escape pod back to Mars as the station blows up.
When Parker comes back to Mars, things have gone from bad to worse. Not only is Eos captured, but the mercenaries plan to evacuate Mars on a space ship and bomb the entire mining complex. He is ordered by Hendrix to infiltrate the mercenary base. He makes in into the base, but is knocked unconscious in an airlock gas attack.
Parker wakes up in a prison cell along with several of his friends. Red Faction scholars manage to break him out and tell him to go to Hendrix. Hendrix explains that Masako is planning to bomb the complex, and Orion is nowhere to be seen. Parker and Hendrix then break in the mercenary docking bay, but Hendrix is killed in an explosion. Masako sends all of her remaining forces to stop Parker, but to no avail. Parker fights through the remaining mercenary forces and finally catches up to Masako. Masako is mercilessly gunned down by Parker, who finds Eos tied to the bomb which is counting down. Parker successfully disarms the bomb, and the Earth Defense Force forces the remaining mercenaries to surrender. Everyone then takes a ship back to Earth.
