I'm not a critic but I know what I like. Gavin's Way is funny and intelligent and thats a hard combination to find in movie's these days. First time writer-director, D.R. Farquharson, created a fresh film that is enjoyable to watch with some truly hilarious scenes. His writing, directing and acting won't disappoint moviegoers seeking a film with an actual plot and dialogue.

A great story that will make you laugh

I was pleasantly surprised after seeing Gavin's Way. Although it was similar to Brothers McMullen, Gavin's Way depicted a more realistic portrait of family life in suburbia Boston. Each of the three cousins have their own personal tribulations to overcome; however each one is able to embrace their challenges and choices via their own individual style and humor. A great film to watch and get emersed in and contains some very funny one-liners! (The Boston accent is authentic, too!)

excellent content, realistic and not glamorized.

This film was excellent in content depicting the accuracy of Northeastern small town life. It was able to draw me into the story line for the duration of the film because it's characters and their respective problems were interesting.

It reminded me of a Brothers Mac Mullen type of family/date film. I would recommend this film to anyone who appreciates an active experience while viewing.

The Gavin's coming of age story.

I see a lot of movies. This one, GAVIN'S WAY, is one of those little indies that proves all you need is heart to tell a good story. D.R. Farquharson the writer, director, and star of GAVIN'S WAY has done what only a handful of entertainers have done in all of Hollywood. He captured the audience and drew us onto his world for 90 minutes without explosions, SFX, or cheap tricks. The film starts slow and builds as it goes. The characters and plot are intelligent, honest, and very likeable. The dialogue is what really makes this movie stand out. Three very different cousins come to frustration points in their lives, and deal with it in their own ways. The film is very funny, but it also deals with issues like racism and homophobia but leaves them in the background... so that the audience sees it, feels it, and thinks about it. But the film steers away from using the issues for cheap laughs (Although- there are a few very well placed, very funny laughs aimed at the ignorant). This is a well made, well crafted independent film- that is for anyone who likes to laugh, and enjoys being entertained. I hope we'll being seeing a lot more of D.R. Farquharson.

Three cute cousins find love.

I saw this movie at a Film festival and I loved it. I couldn't stop laughing. (I even cried once.) My boyfriend and I usually don't like the same movies- but he said it was like a date movie for guys. The acting was really, really good. The guy who wrote it also starred and directed it, and he spoke after the movie. He is sooooooo cute! And the guy who plays his cousin the mechanic is really funny. This was a great movie.
