Them Bones.
Son_of_Mansfield16 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Robbie Williams tries to grab the attention of a luscious DJ with his dance movies and then with his naked body. When those attempts fail, he strips the skin and muscles of his skeleton and wins her heart. I guess it really is what is underneath that matters. This is a refreshing oasis amid the dry bed of dance-for-the-girl clips. It fools you into thinking that it will be another of the bunch, but Williams sarcastic sense of humor wins in the end. The great moment in the clip is when the naked Williams' nude grind has failed and his disappointment turns to resolve as he realizes that this girl is well worth bearing his more intimate bones.

Nice uncensored videoclip ;-)

This videoclip has been censored on french TV, so I was so happy to find the DVD in switzerland.

Robbie Williams' clip is excellent, the strip till the skeleton is a so good Idea, a great metaphore to say that he get the girl through his blood...

Nice job, even if the 3D skeleton isn't well rendered.

One of My Favourite Videos.

Warning: Spoilers
I personally hate pop and electronic music. There are some exceptions but in the whole, I think it sucks. One exception is the Robbie Williams hit from 2000, "Rock DJ." It is nice and catchy, but the memories of the video really enhance the experience of hearing the song.

The British prettyboy is at a roller skating rink surrounded by women that don't notice him. He mainly tries to get the attention of the DJ. Dancing doesn't help, so he decides to strip which helps a bit. After getting down to his birthday suit, the video switches gears. Williams takes off his skin! He keeps ripping off pieces of his body until he winds up just a skeleton. It is pretty freaky and that's the point. The CGI skeleton shows its age, so maybe a remastered version would not be a bad idea.

Good song, awesome video!

Love this music video

The video for Rock DJ is really shocking and really clever at the same time.It is really entertaining also.

It is my favorite Robbie Williams music video ever made.I have seen this video dozens of times. They show this video a lot on NZ TV late at night.

The thing that is so clever about this music video is that Robbie is in a roller disco with girls skating around him. They don't pay any attention to him until he strips his skin off.Stripping naked doesn't even work.It is definitely one of my favorite music videos 10/10.If you like music videos with gore watch this one

Rock DJ

Warning: Spoilers
When I read an analysis of the music video, I thought the ripping off of skin part would look cool. I was extremely disappointed. Since then, I have not liked any of Robbie's work.

The video is also fairly unrealistic. If the chicks aren't impressed by him taking all his clothes off, what the hell makes him think that ripping off his skin does? And why did the people involved in this even think about a video with this plot, especially since he's supposed to appeal to a young audience? God, the things that ruin pop music and their videos...

If you want to see a music video where a sleazy drug addict rips off his skin to impress chicks, then go ahead, watch this video. Parents, if you don't want your children (especially if they already like him) to be traumatised, please, please, please don't let them watch this video. If it comes on at all, go in the room and turn off the television. I don't care if it's censored or not, just don't subject them to this video.

Did the job (selling) at the time but not so good that it has a real lasting value as a short film

Cheeky chappy that he is, Robbie Williams is very used to being able to get any girl that he wants. So when he finds himself in the middle of some sort of roller disco filled with stunning video girls he is desperate to make sure they notice him. So he starts to strip off to reveal his tight body but he finds he does so to a general sense of apathy. What more can he do to get their attention?

Some will tell you that this video is a commentary on modern materialism and the fascination with the naked human form. Others will claim that it is a great visual demonstration of how the girls literally get under Robbie's skin. Personally I cannot see anything that clever or interesting on a thematic level within this music video. No, instead what it does do well is produce an alternative video that got people wanting to see it. The fact that it was censored for the majority of screenings took away from the point of the whole thing but also generated hype for the song itself. The special effects are reasonably good and do make for an interestingly different video away from all the rump shaking that makes up the vast majority of music videos.

Robbie fans will like it I imagine and it is at least different but it doesn't have a lasting value that goes much beyond helping to promote and sell an old song. Perhaps a bit too driven by controversy over the gore rather than it being a great video but it did what it did at the time regardless.
