one down........one to go...........

Warning: Spoilers
I taped this movie yesterday on Lifetime then I watched it a couple hours later. A little girl(Daveigh Chase) witnesses a homicide and she freaks out, as expected. A shrink(Kristy Swanson) and a detective(Vincent Spano) try to help the poor girl out. They try to identify the killer. They keep thinking for some reason that it was a random mugging but then they realize all too SLOWLY that the whole thing is part of a bigger conspiracy. The plot is pathetic and predictable.

This is one of those conspiracy theory movies. Of course, I figured it out long before any of the main characters did. Daveigh Chase does a great job as the little girl. It's funny how she does the best job in this thriller. The other actor worth mentioning is Vincent Spano, who played the main detective. Kristy Swanson, however, delivered lines as though she was in a high school play. She barely showed any facial expressions and her voice was pretty monotonous, but it got better. It was so weird seeing this actress play a shrink.

This is a movie that is watchable for some of the acting, but mostly to see if it gets better and presents interesting drama later on. This movie doesn't really do that. I could have explained the ENTIRE plot before the first commercial break.

Statute of Limitations on Silence of the Lambs.....please
MarieGabrielle1 December 2005
I have read several of the other comments, as I try to be fair. For the most part, if a Lifetime Movie has talented actors, but a boring plot, it may still be viewable; and vice versa; This movie has neither. You will become instantly bored as you watch Kristy Swanson pretending to be a psychiatrist (that's right, folks) and you can visually see HOW HARD it is for her to try and re-enact Jodi Foster's superb performance in "Silence of the Lambs".

I for one am tired of these imitations.....it is over 12 years, and we still see lame copies; give the audience a break; this is Ämerican cable; we are not COMPLETE IMBECILES. Some of us don't ëven watch "CSI".....Also, I am not an incidental music expert, but I was hysterically laughing when Kristy Swanson faces the killer through the jail cell, and the ominous classical music starts playing; Writers of this show should be paying royalties to Jonathan Demme; his camera/directorial and sound techniques are used once again......but they are not utilizing a viable story plot or decent actors, to portray the message....I am sure many film enthusiasts will agree.

Just dreadful!
WaltDittrich21 August 2005
Completely boring seemingly made-for-TV movie showcasing the untalented Kristy Swanson. I only watched this because my father, who states there're no good movies out there left to see, picked this up at a video store, and said it was really great. I should have known better: he also states that his favorite movie is "Best Seller" with Brian Dennehy, another borefest! Swanson and Vincent Spano did fine enough acting jobs, but there is just not a great story here. This movie can be shown on the Lifetime channel, and people WILL watch it. You, however, my dear viewer, actively visit IMDb.com, perhaps the greatest collection of movie information available. Stay away from this one, because you have only so much time in your life. Tried to watch it till the end but simply couldn't

There are some films where you know they are rubbish within 10 minutes. There are some where you know they are awful within 3 minutes. This one was absolutely astounding : you knew it was going to be awful during the opening sequence !! Put simply, this was a stunningly bad film. I tried to watch it till the end to see if it would make it THE worst film I've ever watched. I couldn't even watch it till the end.

I am even struggling writing the mandatory 10 lines to describe this film. I repeat - stunningly awful. Bad script, appalling acting, no suspense, obvious plots, non-existent direction, this is truly a made-for-trash movie. Stunning stuff.

Solid movie

Silence is a very good thriller. I wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised by all aspects of this film. It looks great and benefits from many strong actors. I would recommend this to all my friends.

This film has a great cast. Good performances by Kristy Swanson (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Vincent Spano, Tony Todd, and Bruce Boxleitner; one of my favorite TV actors, from Scarecrow and Mrs. King. Even the little girl, DeVeigh Chase, is very believable. Pretty good suspense. Check this one out.

A Real Predictable Stinker
lurch-1715 December 2020
I coulda sworn this was a cheapo filmed in Canada, but maybe not - another reviewer laid it in KCMO. Boxleitner was the only talented actor. Second takes were not allowed, no matter how bad the acting. The lame plot was trivial and predicable. They did not even bother to tell us what was on the disc that everyone died for.

Good Movie!
Movie Nuttball14 May 2004
Dead Silence is a good film with good actors and acting! The two good performances to talk about are by Vladimir Kulich and Bruce Boxleitner! Vladimir was really the ultimate villain in this film. I think he could be awesome as other types of bad guys in movies if he is given the chance. Boxleitner also put on a good performance. Kristy Swanson and Vincent Spano were good and one of the kings of horror Tony Todd also was good and actually the acting by the girl was pretty good. The film is handled in a different way. I thought It was unusual and different that this film was filmed in Kansas City, Missouri. Overall I think Dead Silent is fair film and if you are a fan that likes the actors that I mentioned above and want to see them is different film then I recommend that you watch this movie!
