Sex & Nudity

  • If the player chooses to touch a policewoman named Chester, she will accuse the player of Sexual harassment.
  • The game uses the word Sexual many times in the game.
  • If the player chooses to touch Pat Morales, she will accuse the player of Sexual harassment.
  • This game is known for controversial mature themes involving talking about nudity, sex, homosexual and transgender themes.
  • A topless woman can be seen dancing in the nightclub bar, it's unknown how it got past the PC censorship.

Violence & Gore

  • There's a mini arcade game at Short Stop Bar called Asteroid's in which the player can shoot at meteorites and alien spaceships. The game ends when the player gets shot by the alien blasters or hit by the meteorite.
  • There's another mini arcade racing game at Short Stop Bar in which the player can drive the 4 wheeler dodging obstacles but if it crashes enough times, it will damage the vehicle and crash it. If the player loses all lives, the game will end.
  • There are graphic violent crime scenes throughout the game including, blood and gore shown, dead bodies and shooting at people.
  • There are dead peoples bodies found in the game.
  • This game talks about child abuse, torture throughout the game.
  • A dead man is found lying in the street with bullet wounds in him.
  • A dead boy is found in the dumpster with blood all over him.
  • The decapitated head of a man is found in the refrigerator.
  • If John Carey decides to shoot at people or at a dog unarmed, then it's game over.

  • An African American man named Emo is seen getting bloodily shot as John Carey gets out of the car. John Carey is seen wearing a bulletproof vest and getting his shotgun and killing the suspects shooting at him. Emo is reported to survive the shooting and is in the hospital.
  • John Carey can die in a number of ways including him robbing an apple or glue causing the woman to shoot at him, getting killed in the gangster shootout, Dennis Walkers girlfriend stabs John Carey if he fails to stop her. Dennis Walker stabs John Carey if he fails to stop him. Or the dog pounces on him, a psycho cross dresser suspect stabbing at John Carey will result in a game over.
  • John Carey gets punched by a psycho cross dresser suspect at the movie theater.

Profanity

  • Words like "Oh my God", "Damn", "Hell", "Piss", "Crap", "Goddamn", "Ass", "Asshole", "Bugger", "Bitch", "Bastard", "Shit", "Fuck" are said in Police Quest 4.
  • The man Hal Bottoms uses many instances of "Damn", "Hell", and "Goddamn" and "Bitch".
  • An African American man in the LA neighbor uses the word "S***"
  • Dennis Walker swears the most out of everyone in the game. He says "Fuck" any time John Carey (the player character) touches anything in his apartment or if he asks him about the music playing (upon the player's selection). He also uses "Shit" sometimes, and calls Carey a "Faggot" if the player highlights the red shoe icon. He also uses the word "Bugger" once.
  • Yo Moneys girlfriend uses the word "Bulls***"
  • The first Sierra game in 1993 along with "Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers" to use the word "Shit" and "Fuck" which slipped past the PC censorship in the final years and likely led to the ESRB rating in 1994.

  • A cigarette butt can be seen on the ground next to the dead man.
  • The player can be seen getting cigarettes as items.
  • There are woman seen smoking cigarettes.

  • There are people that can be seen drinking beer at the bar.
  • A slogan appears in the game "Say No to Drugs."

  • Detective Carey can be seen giving drugs to a killer dog in the apartment.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • This game may be very disturbing and upsetting for kids and sensitive people due to the depiction of dead peoples bodies shown in the game.
  • The scene with a dead mans head shown in the refrigerator may be disturbing to kids and sensitive people.
  • The Nazi Flag and Nazi symbols featured in Dennis Walkers apartment may upset people from Germany. Had it been released in Germany, it would've either been banned or censored.
  • This game can get very confusing, very tough and frustrating to play if you don't have a walkthrough.

  • John Carey at the apartment witness a dead woman in the bedroom murdered and sees the the psycho cross dresser suspect about to stab him with the knife, he then reacts with a hairspray torch and burns his face and clothes possibly killing him leading to a good ending with John Carey being a hero.
