A classic
iseedelight22 August 2007
To me, this was a classic. When it first aired on HBO, I taped it. Next party I had, I played it for our family and friends. There were at least 30 people in the room. I've never seen so many people at so many different ages, laughing. My three sons and their buds were in their early 20's and they were not looking forward to watching something my husband and I thought was funny. They ended up laughing more than anyone else over Sinbad's monologue. One of the biggest laughs came when Sinbad is talking about going to the beach with his wife, eying the babes in their bikinis, and his wife catches him doing it. His denial and comment about how he far preferred to look at his wife's butt dragging' in the sand brought the house down. I identified with the part where his mother is chasing him around the block yelling, "Jesus, help me not to kill this boy". Like the other reviewer, I tried for two years to find a tape of this concert, even writing HBO, with no success.

If I knew how to contact Sinbad, I would write him and see if he can shade any light on how to get a copy of this.

Sinbad is Awesome!

I love this show! I think it was an HBO special when it first aired on television. I love all of Sinbad's stand up performances. I do have a copy of his Afros and Bellbottoms show. I have never been able to purchase the Braindamaged performance. I have tried looking for it everywhere. The only thing I can find are audio copies of the show. I would really love to see the show again or find a copy of it to buy. If anyone reading my comments knows of a way to find a copy of this show I would love to know. One of the reasons I fell in love with this particular show was because of how funny it was. Also the first time I saw the show I watched it with my father, and my brother and sisters. The one thing that I remember the most was the reaction that my father had to the show. He was rolling on the floor in laughter. He loved it so much that we taped it once off of HBO. One of my younger sisters loaned it to a friend of hers and we never got it back. I really would love to be able to watch it again.

Sinbad at his BEST

Warning: Spoilers
Beginning with Sinbad announcing his own grandiose arrival on stage, the laughs are there. He comes in Dancing with his crew and he's so adorable as he gets winded and the younger guys don't.

His routine about growing up and his Mama having eyes in the back of her head.....I think everyone can identify. He moves on to dating, marriage and raising his own kids. Every joke smoothly and hilariously goes into another. For those of us who can remember the song "Have you Seen her?", Sinbad lip-syncs and does silly body movements to that one. We were rolling on the floor with laughter! (It reminded me of what my friends and I used to do when we listened to music.) I can't believe it's been 20 years since I've seen it, but you KNOW something's good when you can recall parts of a show. I saw it on cable with my sisters and we were all laughing so hard it hurt! The beauty of Sinbad is he can bring such joy and laughter to all of us without uttering a single obscenity. He has natural talent, so he doesn't have to resort to the shock stuff. His routines also reach all ages, races and both men and women.

This was the best show ever. But you can't find it on DVD. It's only on YouTube.
