Cabaret vertigo for a teenage girl
Marion8818 September 2004
I watched Clementine Tango after having seen the director's following opus about a teenage boy SHEM, and after having read the reviews which are outstanding (from the NY times to Jean-Paul Sartre's Les Temps Modernes, everybody saluted the movie as a masterpiece. It's very well directed with great photography and cabaret scenes really stunning. The love story is a bit disturbing. I surely see why they loved it in Berlin because it has this decadent although very creative atmosphere about it. So if you love life after hours you'll love this movie. The actors are good, although the pace is a bit slow for today's viewer. I surely see what was ground breaking at the time but 20 years later I still prefer Caroline Roboh's SHEM.

Is this Film available on DVD or VHS?

I saw this film in Berkeley California around 1985. I thought it was a wonderful film. I have been trying to find out if this film is available on DVD or VHS since that time. I would love to purchase a copy with English subtitles. Thanks

Clementine where are you?

I loved this movie when I saw it in 1983 and went back and saw it again 2 more times. I have 2 posters (one of which I framed) but have been unable to contact the producer or director to see if I could purchase a copy. If anyone knows how I can achieve this I'd like your help. Set in Paris, the subject of the film is that of a young man from a conservative family discovering a world of cabaret performers who like those in Cabaret draw him into their exotic lifestyle. It is humorous and enticing. I loved the photography and the music.
