Is there ever a way out?
aurela_223 March 2008
This film really brings out the best and worst of Albania. We see how life is in a harsh, post-communist country through the protagonist Nik. In his journey he experiences; love, betrayal, corruption and more importantly poverty. It is cynical and funny to watch his neighbours quarrel about politics and other things that are out of their reach. Moreover, the honour seen through his relationship with Klara is amusingly true!! Although this is a film, it can be read as an autobiography of many Albanians living abroad. Citizens of Albania assume life is perfect in the west, but as Nik talks about in the movie, there is nothing ideal about being a foreigner. A poignant and at the same time realistic story...
