Actor Damian Pitt had no previous acting experience and was spotted by director Ivan Sen in Moree in a group of 20 boys. Sen said he "had the perfect look".
One of five theatrical feature films that were first released in Australia in 2002 which were major movies about indigenous Australian Aboriginality. They were: Rolf de Heer's 'The Tracker', Paul Goldman's 'Australian Rules', Ivan Sens's 'Beneath Clouds', Phillip Noyce's 'Rabbit- Proof Fence', and Craig Lahiff's 'Black and White'. Four of these pictures were filmed in South Australia.
