A Late-Night Promo Tool for Stock Aitken And Waterman
wchngliu28 February 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Hosted by former Wack-a-day co-presenter Michaela Strachan and one third of the 80s UK pop production trio, Pete Waterman of SAW, The Hit-man and Her was a late night clubbing show, shown during the early hours of Saturday till Sunday morning in Britain during the late 80s.

The format for this programme was that Michela and Pete would tour the regions of Britain for various dance clubs and thus, clubbers would appear on the show-often looking worse for wear- and prance about to the beat of the music and thus, showing off their dance moves. There were also fun and games with numerous dance competitions taking place, for example.

The Hit-man and her also helped propel and establish the pop careers of Kylie Minogue, Sonia Evans and The London Boys to name to chart success, after their initial appearances on the programme. Although in truth, this was a PWL-led promotional vehicle for many of its acts, courtesy of Pete himself.

Overall, a good clubbing show that deserves a return to our TV screens, for sure

thrust to the beat

In the early 1990s this was broadcast in the graveyard slot of 4am. Pete Waterman then a hugely successful record producer took the presenter's job and began to wonder if he had made the worst mistake. The show were at half empty clubs. Then it started to get a cult following from drunks coming home and now the clubs had queues of people stretching so far they had to turn people away. The show consisted of people dancing very badly to the latest club tunes that were unsustainable unless you were stuck in a club. Meanwhile professional dancers lead by a black man in a white nylon wig did their thing. The show was noticeable for the cameraman's' interest in the women dancing on the stage and the reason why it was canceled: a number of dancers were able to keep up an athletic tempo despite sweat pouring off them. It was revealed a few had taken a well known stimulant that was part of the club scene at the time. The most memorable of the women dancers was a beautiful nubile girl that appeared in a couple of the earlier shows. Dressed in a black bikini style clothes and sunglasses she moved her body in a very knowingly erotic way. Such was her effect that the actor and psychic Stephen Armourae was describing her on a few sites and a drawing base don her appeared. I know he wanted to do a portrait, but unfortunately for us all that is unlikely since they were anonymous.

Ahhh, so this is what it was called back in the days, for those who don't know, this is not some LEON movie regarding a hit-man and a female, instead it was about music. You know, you got those images in your head but the title is always the one that you always seem to forget! Now we'ved nailed it.

This was a late night music/clubbing show that just basically aired all the latest club tunes that was going around those days - a TV version of MTV's summer beach house but based inside.

Hosted by Micheal stratan and Pete waterman (the hit-man), hence the title - who introduced the latest and erm, greatest acts (at the time)such as Sonia, Sinitta and Yazz onto our screens.

I remember a particular dancer all Kajagoogoo'ed up (remember them?!)and strutting his stuff - scenes of Alan patridge in a thong springs to mind...lol I really don't know why i watched this series back then, i guess it was just an 80's thing!
