Although this production was well done, it reflected more on the pain in her life rather than the good. Though it discussed Genie's teenage addiction to alcohol and cocaine, this portrait made it sound as though her life on General Hospital was hell rather than one of the best experiences in her life. It also reflected on the disappointments of her life such as starring on DAYS, Bare Essence, her high school life of hell, and other things. It left out quite a bit of her life and continued to compare her to Laura and make Genie seem as though her life is empty other than her husband and her children. It left out things like her incredible friendship with Tony Geary (Luke Spencer), her life in the eighties outside of the public eye, her children, her work now at GH, it left out too much and focused too much on the pain in her life. It's almost depressing for me to watch no matter how much I adore Genie.

being an "Intimate" portrait gives it a different side than just a regular interview

I think that it being an "Intimate" portrait gives it a different side than just a regular interview. It gives us an in-depth look into WHO she is outside of Laura Spencer, it shows the true rhymes and reason to why she left GH to begin with. You can gather a strong sense of the love and respect that Tony Geary and Jonathan Jackson have for her, which says a lot. It was not a glamorous side to acting or Genie per say, but it was definitely a more personal side that hasn't been seen or heard before. I adore Genie, I respect her even more as a person and an actress having seen this. The sad part of this is that when she did this in 2001, she was only a year away from leaving GH. The place that had just been said was a "home and family" to her. It was refreshing to see the true side to someone, rather than the padded versions we so often get when the "right" questions are asked in day to day interviews. We see the love she has for her husband and children, and he for her. We got raw honesty, integrity, and a real sense of who Genie Francis is behind the shadow of Laura Spencer.
