i like comedies. i like all types of comedies that are funny. i like comedies from 'w.c. fields in 'the dentist' (1920's) to 'kung pow' (2000's). that's 80 years of comedies that i like, give or take a few.

mclintock, catch 22, sabrina (both), topper, my man godfrey, freebie and the bean, hey, even planet 9 from outer space, i enjoy a good laugh.

but here i quote robert wuhl in 'good morning, vietnam', "what is the appeal of joey bishop? i mean, i know funny, and this guy is not funny!"

this movie is like the old 'joey bishop show'. it might be interesting, even entertaining, but it is not funny.

the people involved with the making of this movie tried to present it as a funny movie, and it's not very funny. it's like they were trying to present us with up-dated versions of lenny bruce (it's sh**, sh**, sh**), and richard pryor (hey, mother f**** n****, roflol that he said mother f***** n*****, right? ain't that a hoot???)

how this movie works at all is that the people involved with the making of it have some insights into the human condition, and they have some humorous ways of presenting these insights at times. the movie rings true on some of these levels, sometimes. but it should have been made as a drama, a musical without music, a documentary, an animated featurette, anything but a comedy, because it's just not funny.

the makers of this movie are not clueless, except when it comes to being funny.

to paraphrase mr. wuhl, 'i know funny, and these people are not it'. i just watched this movie. i had one really great spontaneous laugh from it. this is good, comedy is good. one laugh per movie is a little low on the laugh-o-meter scale.

i hope that everybody enjoys every movie that they see. it's just that this ain't likely to be one of them. it's not very good.

    Cheap but hysterically funny

I have to start by saying this looks like a soft porn film: the photography, the actors' faces, the actors' playing. The actresses are all ugly and old. The film is cheap and clumsy and it has low production values. But... This impression fades out by minute 3, when you have already laughed more than you laughed in the entire Adam Sandler filmography. If you ignore the fact that it looks like a film school license movie, you realize it's one of the funniest movies in years. More gags and jokes per minute than a Mel Brooks film. All in all, excellent writing and humor. And I've just found out here, on the IMDb, the main actor is Dom DeLuise's son. Well, it's hard to be as funny as Dom DeLuise, especially when you look like you only act in Richard Grieco movies... still eventually you get to like this guy and admit he's funny as hell.

    Pretty Funny!

I saw this at the Schweitzer Lakedance Film Festival in Sandpoint in 2006 and it was very funny. The whole crowd (it was on a Friday Night) laughed and enjoyed it. The Bachelorman is a light crazy sometimes-hip sex comedy that is often over-the-top and sometimes predictable... but so what? Its fun to watch, and thats all that counts.

As for someone who could possibly give this film, or ANY film a one star out of ten? I mean take a step back for a second. I've seen some TERRIBLE films, but I've never seen a 1 star film. Generally, the worse it gets the more you can appreciate the camp value.

I just heard this got picked up for distribution and I'm really happy. People who want some simple fun adult comedy should pick this up!

It all "Depends" on what you find FUNNY!!

To anyone who has seen it, can you not laugh when you think about the old woman standing in front DeLuise in her Adult underwear? Even days after seeing this movie, I still find myself laughing when I think about some of the scenes. This movie is funny!Really! I do agree that this movie really didn't need the troll looking friend, but it made it more realistic. I know I've had some pretty scary looking friends in my life!! If you have not, then you'll be unable to understand the humor in the role. I would see this movie again, I have recommended it to friends, and I recommend it to you.

P.S. Where can I buy a "Poop Moose"? Maybe someone involved in this movie could send me one.... PLEASE!!!! :-D

    My 2 cents

`Bachelorman' is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. In most movies you're happy if you get three or four big laughs, but `Bachelorman' delivers big laughs all the way through. David DeLuise steals the show as the horny bachelor with a real sex life that is even better than his fantasy life (which they show using hilarious computer animation). Then when he falls in love with his neighbor played by Missi Pyle he feels like he loses his superpowers, and his equally horny friends have to help him get them back. Funny, funny, funny.
