Only for anime historians

Despite the historic importance of the events around which the drama is set, the great soundtrack from Chopin and the various interesting cultural references, Isabelle de Paris succeeds partly only as a stylized tragedy. Both the kid-friendly romances, humor and action-adventure sections are really weak. Cutting these away might have achieved something better but it's clear the objective to cater to an audience of children (the totally out of place opening and closing themes representing further evidence).

It was produced 40 years ago and some elements deserve credit, yet nowadays, as it is, it is hardly watchable (animations are primitive).

For anime historians only.
