When Daniel Pruitt is riding in the patrol car with Deputy Forrest they never turn off the roadway, but they pass the same house on the right three times.
The car had a flat tire at the crash scene and it was driven on the flat tire to the hospital. Doing so would be difficult since it was a drive (rear) wheel. It would also wear the tire down to two rubber strips. When the tire was changed at the hospital, it had no wear damage.
The ME says the marks on the body came from a pistol whipping and identifies the gun as a 9mm. Gun frames for various calibers are the same, so a 9mm would leave identical marks as a 40 or 45 caliber gun from the same manufacturer.
James Caan's character is the sheriff of a county in Oregon, but he wears a raid jacket with Sheriff printed on the back and Police printed on the front. Also, he wears a ball cap with HPD on it.
The doctor at the hospital says they will send evidence to the crime lab in Seattle. The crime took place in Oregon, Seattle is in Washington. This error is later repeated when the husband calls his buddy at the Seattle police department and tells him an evidence bag is coming in from upstate.
In the Sheriff's truck, he produces the snub nosed revolver and says it was found at the murder scene/ accident site, and a deputy later says the gun was stolen from the campsite. When the wife ran out of the woods in front of the Mustang, she was holding the same gun, and the husband either took it and her to the hospital or left it where she ran out. Either way it would not have been found at the murder scene.
