- TriviaNirvana refused to play their hit-song 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', because they felt that it has become worn out. Instead, they wanted to play 'Rape Me', but it was rejected by the executives of MTV. They later agreed to play 'Lithium'. As a revenge, the band played the first seconds of 'Rape Me' before changing to 'Lithium'. It was later revealed that, as soon as the studio heard the few seconds of the first song, they were about to switch to a commercial break. Because of the change, a pre-recorded skit featuring Dana Carvey (doing a parody of George Bush) commenting on the band's performance was rendered inconsistent, as it still referred to 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'.

NIRVANA !!!!!
One of the best and most interesting MTV Video Music Awards. This award show featured live performances from Nirvana,Guns N Roses,Black Crows,Red Hot Chili Peppers etc. Nirvana started their live performance act with the opening of the song "Rape Me" and then shifted to the song "Lithium". It was a funny moment in Rock N Roll history having Nirvana start with their song "Rape Me" on live television as a prank and a scary moment for MTV suits. After they performed the song "Lithium" Dave Grohl of Nirvana starts taunting Axl Rose from the stage by saying on microphone "Hi Axl,Hi Axl,Wheres Axl? Hi Axl,Hi Axl,Hi Axl" while Nirvana destroyed their instruments.Nirvana won Best New Artist and Best Alternative Video for the song "Smells like Teen Spirit".Guns N' Roses performed their song "November Rain" it was a Great performance. Sorry if anyone is pissed off that i didn't include any other band in this summery but Nirvana stole the show of the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards.
