A Decent Multiplayer Game
As a fan of Turok and multiplayer mode, which was relatively new at the time, this one caught my eye pretty quickly. I had some great times playing it with my friends as a kid back in the day.
Single player mode existed, and was enjoyable, but it was more like glorified training with bots to prepare for multiplayer and beating it was necessary to unlock all 17 characters. Once this was finished, the game became far more fun to play on multiplayer.
The multiplayer's style was similar to Quake III. There are over 30 stages to different stages to choose from, all of them well designed and detailed. There are four different multi-player game types: capture the flag, frag tag, bloodlust, and team bloodlust.
You'll use over twenty different weapons, many of which originated from the previous two Turok game, like the MAG-60, Plasma Rifle, Cerebral Bore, and others. There's power-ups to use as well, such as teleportation, bullet shield, slow time, invulnerability, etc.
The framerate could get clunky at times, but for the most part, the game was smooth and playable.
In the end, this was a solid and fun multiplayer game, but I enjoyed Goldeneye and Mario Kart 64 more.

Gold even in 2008
Now if only the developers of the new Turok could understand why Turok was so great to begin with. The weapons and characters are key, not to mention that Turok is originally from a comic book series...of course its going to be a little unrealistic.
Turok: Rage wars is by far my favorite Turok out of all 6 (main consoles, not counting GB versions) titles. It was one of the first true Multiplayer only oriented games and it delivered the goods and as a bonus gave us some solid coop action.
The weapons and their uses ingame have yet to be equaled and the characters are colorful and interesting. Players have the option pick a character (1 of many) and 1 of 3 skins, then you select your guns..each player can carry 6 weapons, 1 Warhammer, 2 bullet weapons, 2 energy weapons and an explosive weapon.
You can even play as a Raptor! Tell me another game that lets you run around and claw at people....brilliant.
Buy it, demand a remake and get those people that made this 2008 one out of the building and get people that know and love the series to make us a new proper one. I would suggest getting the people involved with Rage Wars, Turok 1 and 2 on the team. Make it so.
Rage Wars = Gold.
