Nora, a cook, becomes an heiress to a distant relative. According to the terms of the will, she must live in the relative's house. But the house is in a fashionable neighborhood, and once it is known that Nora is a cook, she gets a cold reception. Her neighbors decide to invite her to a party with the idea of showing her up. Instead, Nora makes such a pleasing appearance that the widowed host proposes to her, against the wishes of his two daughters. However, Nora remains true to the policeman to whom she is engaged.
