AMSTERDAM -- The Dutch branch of Warner Home Video is testing the electronic sale of films in an effort to battle illegal downloading. Through January, customers of local Internet provider @Home can download Warner Bros. titles for 6-12 ($7-$14) to their PC. The films are protected against copying. Ruud Lamers, director of Warner Home Video Benelux, said Wednesday that the move was an important step in fighting piracy. "For Warner, legal digital distribution of our product is vital for the future of our company. It could create a new business," he said. Initially, Warner Home Video will offer some 50 titles, including the Harry Potter films, romantic comedies and action films, as well as such local productions as Yes Nurse! No Nurse! and Minoes. For the download-to-own test, under the banner of MoviePlus, Warner has teamed with Keeno, the biggest Dutch supplier of Internet sell-through movies, with a 6,000-title library.

Regent Entertainment genre label Here! Films has acquired North American distribution rights to Yes Nurse! No Nurse! The company is planning a spring release. Based on a Dutch television show from the 1960s, the Pieter Kramer-directed film is the musical tale of Nurse Klivia (Loes Luca), who runs a rest home populated by a gang of lovable nutcases next door to Mr. Boordevol, their nasty landlord. Mark Reinhart, executive vp distribution and acquisitions, acquired the film from worldwide sales agents Fortissimo Films. "Consistently funny and outrageous, Yes Nurse! No Nurse! represents an exciting addition to our film roster," Reinhart said. "Think Singing in the Rain meets Little Shop of Horrors without all the murder and mayhem, and you can see why this fun and campy film has audiences rolling in the aisles with laughter." Added Fortissimo co-chairman Michael Werner: "We are delighted that Here! Films will bring Yes Nurse! No Nurse! to North America." The film was released theatrically in Benelux by Warner Bros. Pictures.
