In the spring of 2003, a special episode aired as a tribute to the late Michael Larson, who won over $100,000 on Press Your Luck (1983) by memorizing the board's patterns. For this show, Larson's two opponents played against his brother James, and Peter Tomarken read the questions in the second round. James was the day's big winner.
Peter Tomarken, who hosted the original Press Your Luck, auditioned to host this version as well. He lost out to Todd Newton.
