The best student advisory film I have ever seen!

If only all student services promos could be this much fun! The multiple character/overlapping time-frame structure gave it a real edge, and showed a surprisingly daring approach to what could have (in less skilled hands) been overwrought and preachy. But the writer has managed to avoid all these pitfalls in a breezily relaxed script. Kudos to Alan Maher for both his sharp dialogue as writer and moving depiction of burgeoning sexuality as actor (it's hard to imagine a writer giving himself a less thankful role than this, but he pulls it off with the kind of selflessness you rarely see in a performer). All in all, this film taught me a lot about how to face life. Hats off to the film-makers, who weren't content to cash in on an easy opportunity and instead took on the challenge of creating a daring and exciting piece of drama.
