Based on the novel, a perfect example of a drama coupled with great metaphors on life and philosophy

The movie is based on a novel written by Gorur Ramaswamy Iyengar and is packed with lot of metaphors on life and philosophy. The movie revolves around the two main characters of greedy, selfish father and his family, often troubling the village people and a noble father and his family , and their respective sons' who are brought up with same level of mindset as theirs. Eventually the children when they are grown up engage themselves in a physical, lawful and in a way moral fight with each other. In the end, after series of life changing events, the son of greedy father (aided by his wife's advice) realizes his mistake and turns into a noble person. The story is narrated so well its a perfect example of how to direct a drama. It is also first Kannada movie shot entirely outside the studio.
One of the greatest kannada movie

Truly one of the greatest kannada movie i've seen. It's a movie about friendship, movie about father son relationship. The setting is a village, where the village headman is a miser and does bussiness by giving loan to poor farmers on heavy interest. The villagers hate him. The village headman has a son who is good to begin with but after his fathers death goes the father's way. The protagonist in the movie is another villager who is a friend of village headman's son. The clash between these two leading to the doom of both of them forms the rest of the story.
Well acted by the whole cast. And this is vishnuwardhan's first big break. Music is good too.
