This was the first edition of the contest with an audio track produced in stereo, which was reserved for the radio broadcast of the show. On TV, the transmission was originally made in mono as usual. In 2021, as part of the initiative "Eurovision Again" that was launched during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Dutch channel rescued the stereo audio track from the radio transmission and synchronized it with the video of the TV broadcast, resulting in a brand new stereo version of the show which was released on YouTube for a limited time. The first contest to be originally broadcast on TV with stereo sound was the 1984 edition, although TV channels around Europe wouldn't start broadcasting the show in stereo in a majority of countries up until 1988.
