French bred Algerian teenager's harrowing journey of self search
kewpie1 January 2003
I saw Morel's "A Toute Vitesse"(96) and glad to have a chance to see this film during London Film Festival 2002. Morel's approach to tackle social and moral issues is straight forward and realistic. Samy is sent away to Algeria in order to escape French jail. He's staying with his grandfather's, but he can't speak Arabic and he is experiencing a fish out of water situation. As the film progress we slowly learn about his cousins and uneasy background of the country itself. If you prefer to watch something makes you think about life and human condition you'll find this film is worth watching.
