very moving at times...
marcum-219 November 2007
Only caught a few episodes before it suddenly ended... what I did see I found intriguing and very moving at times.

The sort of show that inspires good deeds, don't you think?

"Heroes" does that a little bit as well - despite the frequent gore ;) Let's hope it {Miracles} reincarnates itself one day soon.

I'm not one to watch much TV, but when I catch one or two episodes of a show worthy of my time - I'll wait for it to come out on DVD so I can catch the entire series without interruption and in proper sequence.

Purchased entire season of Miracles on DVD for just $10 on ebay - can't wait to be inspired!

X-files on the cuter and warmer side
NetflixZZZZ10 November 2009
Wow... what a dark, enthralling tale! The plot is so tight, story arc so suspenseful, acting so affecting, and the scenes so horrifying and heart-wrenching at the same time, I'm completely captivated just 3 episodes into the show and ready to buy the entire series.

The cover art does no justice at all - Skeet Ulrich with his goatee shaved off (trying to shake off the Johnny Depp curse?) looks so much like his "Scream" character, that I thought this was going to be another teen drama.

Gothic horrors it deliverers, but not jut for teens. If "Buffy the Vampire" is high school, then this is Post Graduate. It's intelligent as "The X-files", only cuter, warmer, and more soulful.

Yet, this great TV series was doomed and forgotten due to bad timing, while elementary level suspense and fantasy like "Heroes" and "Lost" got many seasons and followers... How incomprehensible and depressing, really, "GOD IS NOWHERE", or shall I quote Paul Callan "...why is God doing this?"

Why oh Why??
I happened to catch this programme while flicking through endless channels one night. At first I just watched because I recognised one of the main actors in the show (Angus MacFadyen) and thought this might be quite good. I proved myself right and after the first 15 minutes I was hooked. However I began to wonder why I'd never heard of it and why it was shown on Living TV of all channels at some ridiculous time.

I conducted a search on the internet only to find the show had aired briefly in the US and had then been cancelled. I mean why? Don't the American T.V execs appreciate a decent drama above all the disastrously awful "reality TV" which is shoved in our faces day and night?

I felt quite saddened when I tuned in the next week as I knew the programme would eventually stop abruptly and have no real ending. So it ends up like many good shows (e.g The Handler and American Gothic), not really given a chance and then cancelled after a few episodes. It makes you wonder why the writers and actors of these shows even bother when they pretty much know they'll lose out to moronic and simply awful T.V which just happens to grab the ratings.

My only hope is it will be released on DVD or maybe a miracle will happen and it will be resurrected...I can live and hope...

good suspense and intriguing stories
psalfate22 March 2003
Since the first episode of this series show me, I realize that was worthy to see it every week.

It drives you since a classical series enigma to the world of unknown, where men and women doesn't like to accept in an open way.

I think the series has a good argument line, trying to tell to the spectator that worlds and others dimensions are as real as the one we live.

I hope it last more than one season, usually good series are short because most of the people doesn't like to think to much.

Miracles rules the unknown world.

Surprisingly great

I'm not religous by any definition of that word, however I don enjoy seeing religous elements in books movies and ahow, especially in things like horror. I'm a big fan of The X Files, it's definetley in my top 3 favorite shows of all time and was one of the reasons why I started obssesing over monsters and horror since a very young age. I do enjoy seeing shows clearly inspired by X files as well, and most of those are some of my favorites too.

This show was leagues ahead of what I thought it would be. I expected a very cheesy fantasy akin to something made by Pureflix or Hallmark. But the underlying darkness was so well put together.

Yes the characters are pretty stock and you can find them in most tv shows these days and many people will find the monster of the week format extremley boring, but I was invested enought to binge it in a few weeks.

It's not as good or addmitedley scary as Evil, but it defentley deserves a spot at my list of favorites.

Brilliant show that ended too soon.

I came across this show whilst flicking through the late night telly looking for something to watch. I instantly got hooked only for it to suddenly end a couple of weeks later. Oh how I wish that I had got to see more of this show.

It Was A Miracle I Could Stand Watching The First Six Episodes!
liberalgems19 February 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I tried my best to keep an open mind! "Miracles" borders on camp. Story lines make no sense. The boy ghost says the evil spirit "wants everything." Really now? That's a truly exciting revelation! Especially when in an earlier episode, at his funeral, the same boy ghost shows up all happy, and at peace. We are led to believe there's closure. Can't the writers make-up their minds? Or, are they trying to save money by not hiring more actors!

One episode even turned an old lady into jelly! She caves in and tells her deep, dark secret because one of our dopey investigators had the audacity to ask twice. Wow! That would convince me to spill the beans to a bunch of strangers after keeping my mouth shut for well over 50 years!

The acting is not inspiring, either. There's no chemistry. At times I get the feeling the main characters don't know if they are going to be filming the next episode. Sometimes it seems like the actors are trying hard not to giggle. Keep in mind this not supposed to a comedy show!

This series is a cross between X-files and Bewitched. A confusing mess to say the least! Good try, no cigar!

Networks have no faith in quality
macfeetiehome30 July 2003
Here's another solid concept that fell victim to the whims of the great unwashed of American television audiences. A truly interesting concept, coupled with some solid acting by Ulrich and Macfayden made "Miracles" one of the freshest new shows of the 2002-2003 prime-time television season. Alas, probably because there was no one getting "voted off the Island" on it - it got voted off the Island pretty quickly. I will always rue the fact that the ultimate plot was never allowed to be revealed and the nature of the "God is nowhere" phenomenon was never explained to viewers. Like a succulent hybrid of "X-files" and "Millennium," "Miracles" promised the building intrigue of a huge, unraveled conspiracy theory and the creepy twisted irony of religion gone terribly awry. A real shame it was cancelled, especially while pap like "Big Brother" hangs around longer than the lunch special at Luby's. USA Network was brave enough to pick up "Monk" - I wish they'd have done the same for "Miracles." It'd be awesome for the Sci-Fi Network. Oh well, I expect no less from an obtuse network like ABC - maybe they can flog a couple more cheesy seasons out of that tired old "Practice" - but I doubt it.

the heart of mystery
brakneus30 December 2003
I just finished watching the last, 13th episode. And it's really a shame, and the more I think about it, absolutely incomprehensible that they cancelled this show. I've seen many tvshows, but never such a perfect mix of mystery and heartfelt storylines.

Watch it if it aires, buy the dvd if they make it, or download it from somewhere, it's worth it!

good show that never should have been canceled
Mikko_Elo_21 January 2005
everyone i know who's seen miracles seems to have liked the series. brutally it was canceled before ever really getting a proper chance to show where it's plot was going. the pilot is a downright classic, the rest of the episodes weren't as great, but miracles showed great promise, and once again we can only shake our heads confused with shows like earth final conflict or bold and the beautiful for example going on as long. sadly miracles joins earth 2 in the graveyard of shows that refused to be dumbed down. it's all about the money, i know, but i can't believe people honestly want to see 'reality' TV and a hundred and one different courtroom dramas instead of great thought-provoking, serious series by proper writers and directors who can be called artists.

excellent, worth watching
cotcwomen24 February 2003
This is, without doubt, an excellent TV show. I saw the previews and knew and I had to watch. Although it starts slow, it had an excellent story & kept my attention. The acting & writing is excellent & it's actually different than any other program out there. I love the whole supernatural aspect, too. I looked forward to watching it each week & I became horrified when I came down one day to find another pathetic Michael Jackson Interview on instead. These stations need to realize the viewers want quality programming, not any pathetic reality shows or interviews with failing & and desperate celebrities.

Probably on of the best TV-seris to be made for a long time....
singingjojo28 February 2004
Warning: Spoilers
Miracles is one of the best series to come out of the U.S. in years. Paul Callan (Skeet Ulrich), a troubled and lonely investigator of modern miracles, has just discovered that "we're not alone down here." And that this may not be such a good thing. During an investigation into the mysterious healing powers of a young boy named Tommy Ferguson, Paul is nearly killed in an unexpected accident - and only rescued at the last minute by Tommy's healing powers. But in those moments near death, Paul looks over to see his own blood forming the words "God is now here." Tommy heals him, but dies as a result - and Paul is faced with a greater quest than he ever imagined. As Paul tries to understand the ramifications of what has happened to him, he is approached by Alva Keel (Angus Macfadyen), an enigmatic former Harvard professor and current investigator of the paranormal - and who may have the key to Paul's vision in blood. The men join forces, each feeling that the other possesses the key to a larger mystery - the rapidly growing numbers of "strange occurrences" now happening all over the world. These occurrences - and the visions of others in near death circumstances (whose visions differ from Paul's by a single space, seeing instead the words "God is Nowhere") - may in fact point to a frightening and deadly "large event" already on the horizon. With the help of former police officer Evelyn Santos (Marisa Ramirez), these investigators investigate the "miracles" and unexplained occurrences now happening all over the world - and band together to try to find a solution to the coming "darkness"...before it's too late

THE biggest casualty of the war in Iraq
reelcrazed8 July 2003
My husband picked this show on its premier night. I was hooked! I watch very few shows on the ABC network these days, but this one was definitely a "keeper" in my book.

Each episode slowly peeled back another layer of the very mysterious and complex lives of the main characters. A show with some depth, what a novel idea!

This show reminded me a lot of the first couple of seasons of The X-Files. There was a "WOW! That was good!" followed by "Ooh, I wonder what's coming next week?". Anticipating whether the next episode would either address a personal issue of the main characters (that you actually cared about), or throw you right into the middle of them encountering and dealing with someone else's troubles.

The show was constantly being pre-empted by news break-ins of the war in Iraq with fuzzy images of Ted Koppell in green night vision-o-rama. It's a shame that ABC gave "Miracles" the boot because not enough people were watching it when, in reality, they didn't give us the choice on whether to watch or not.

Brilliant Show!!
cantcarryatune9 June 2003
The night this show premiered, my sister had dibs on the TV, so I grudgingly agree to watch the pilot with her. BOY AM I GLAD I DID. It was like nothing that I had seen on TV in a very long time. Well crafted story lines, brilliant cinematography, very well acted with wonderful musical scores. I felt as though I was watching a one hour theatrical movie. I was hooked. Alas, ABC's incessant preemptions of the show for war time coverage made it difficult for wavering fans of the show to become loyal fans. Thus the show's premature demise. Can't wait for a DVD box set release.

Second Chance
katlb9726 April 2003
I decided that I would watch this show that aired @ten pm on Mondays because I had some free time. After that, I became addicted. I love all of the actors on the show, and I have seen them various other roles (Angus was Robert the Bruce in Braveheart, and the girl in the series (sorry, I don't know her name) was Gia in General Hospital, and Skeet has been in a lot of movies. I never missed an episode, and I hope they continue to air this television show. I believe it had a lot to offer, from acting to plot line. I really want to know what Skeet's character is going to do next or what town he is going to go to. In My opinion, it is one of the best telvision shows out right now (Other than BTVS)

One of the few intelligent shows on TV
friskysman17 April 2003
What a shame that ABC is so clueless and cancelled this great show after just 5 episodes and when things were getting so interesting. I suppose that is the way it goes with all good television; for some reason our society in general is not able to handle an hour of intelligent and insightful programing. Let's hope this somehow finds its way to another network or to DVD. There are 7 episodes that will never see the light of day otherwise.

A trip into the a place that we all want to see.....
Realtreble71465528 January 2004
This series has only just begun over here in England and I am hooked already. Each episode asks questions we are all afraid to ask. Are there miracles? Is there a God? a Devil? Is the world as we know it about to be sent into armageddon?

I have read that this series has been abandoned and all I want to know is why? It seems us mortals are addicted to the likes of Pop Idols and soap operas. I personally believe people are afraid of what we all really think. Ok, so maybe there are no such things as werewolves etc but there have been many accounts of miracles through the ages and people seeing and hearing messages.

This programme really made me think. My message to both the maker of 'MIRACLES' and TV CHANNEL which scrapped it is to bring it back. The X Files was great but MIRACLES is more personal. An excellent programme and well done to all concerned.

It was a thinker.
Lady_Madonna19 May 2003
I loved it. I couldn't believe that ABC cancelled it. Actually, I found out by reading another comment. I was in denial this entire time. I kept checking to see if it was going to be on this week. I loved it. My parents say it's because I like strange and paranormal things, and, yeah, I'd have to agree with them, but this show was like WHOA. It had this strange plot that just got you hooked. And the actors on there I really enjoy. They did a really good job. Too bad it got cancelled.

Miracles....something about wanting the boxsets etc -_-
magick0135 September 2007
Mmm it is true, every good show goes down the drain like Miracles, Carnivale, Dark Angel etc etc. Skeet was so good in that! It's also really annoying that England seems not to sell the box set any where and now I'm going to have to try and get the boxset off the internet hopefully that works in region 2. Hopefully though Skeet and crew will come back but that seems like a wish unlikely to come true. Apparently I can't submit a comment if I don' have ten lines so four lines to write about something 0.o....erm well if any of you haven't seen carnivale and liked miracles, you should watch it, I bought it as a random series, excellent although they did only two series never finishing off the plot ;-; why do I have to like the shows that never finish?

Yet again ABC cancels a promising show
ChicagoTransplant8 April 2003
I just learned yesterday ABC had decided to cancel Miracles. It seems that this network can't do anything right. First they moved their only show with strong ratings (The Practice) to Monday at 9PM, a terrible time, and now, they've canceled a show that many people enjoy, and I have heard a number of good reviews on it. ABC may now even be slipping behind FOX in the ratings, which had always previously been in 4th place.

This is a Great Show!
xanadu7-110 March 2003
The first night I watched this show after the Superbowl I was hooked. I don't normally watch a series but this one I do. I hope they put it on dvd or vhs so I can buy the series so I can watch it again. I hope they don't take it off. The airplane episode was really great also. All the actors are great too! Watch this show it's great.

Miracles was good
jocurtis729 March 2006
ABC really ticked me off by heavily promoting this show and Veritas during the Superbowl that year, then crapping both series out as if they were nothing. I wanted to see them both show up on the SCI FI Channel because I think they would have grown their audiences there. Both shows had promise, both were well written and acted IMO. I needed and X Files type show and Miracles was it. Too bad ABC gave up on it before it had a chance. They were the lowest rated network at the time. It's not like they had anything better on. At least there is a DVD for Miracles. I'm going to track that thing down. It would be nice if both shows came back.

Terrifically Terrifying
Powerseeker28 January 2003
Even though I have only seen one episode, I have to say that this show is awesome. I really didn't think that it was going to be all that scary. The previews were really awesome, but you know how previews are - they make it seem like it is all that when it isn't - but that totally wasn't the case. It was really scary. Just really bizarre and crazy things happened; this is a really original show. It has been a long time since a decent sci-fi thriller came out. I really enjoyed watching this.

brilliant series
kandn14 August 2005
why do all these channels just all of a sudden decide that they no longer want a show to run. I was really enjoying watching miracles on a Thursday night, then all of a sudden it disappeared. It should be the public who decides whether or not they wish the series to carry on, not some boss sitting in an office chair, stopping the show because its not making him enough money. My Thursday nights are terrible now, I've even resorted to going to bingo !!! I love these paranormal programmes and Skeet's not bad on the eyes either. I didn't know until I looked at this site how old he was though. Cant believe hes 35. Amazing. Good luck in the future anyway skeet, and to the rest of the cast.
