"Seriously" Outta Sight!
classictvgirl504 May 2005
If you're looking for enjoyable, clean, comedy entertainment, this is for you!!! Sure, it's a bit corny at times, but it's a cute and wonderful show (Besides, being corny is a good thing, in my opinion!)! I love this show, and I know lots of people who do. It's not just for kids, but I've found adults who love it as well. (In other words, it's great for the entire family!) It really deserves more recognition then it has received over the past couple of years. The plot lines are great, the episodes are enjoyable (And VERY unique!), and the humor is CLASSIC (Not Bad for a non-classic show!)!!! On a scale of 1 to 10, Seriously Weird deserves a 10...all the way!!!

Don't dismiss this!

I love this show; I fell in love with it by the first five minutes of the first episode I saw. It's not a particularly fabulous show as far as plots go, I'll admit, but it's a show with a personal relevance to me nonetheless. I am a teenager with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, just like Harris (I don't know if it's ever been said aloud, but that's the technical term for neatness compulsions) and sometimes it feels like everything weird that could possibly happen happens to me! I love the jovial way with which the disorder is discussed; it really makes it understandable to kids who might not know 'what's wrong with them'. So of course I love the show! Besides that, even though this his show is a little juvenile (yogurt come to life?!), how many shows nowadays actually are truly innocent? We need more shows like this. Not to mention the adorable, talented and underrated Ryan Cartwright! :) I'd recommend this show to anyone, especially those with OCD and a sense of humor about it!

Worth a shot

Seriously Weird is full of entertainment. It is definitely targeted for a younger audience, and not really deep in subtext. It is a comedy that maybe thin at times but still amusing. It doesn't stoop to gross-out humor, and even throws in some angst one in a while. Granted, the one-note song Harris gives about wanting to be accepted and always chasing Claudia can be tiring, it does get spiced up on occasion, though he never actually sees Finella for who she is and her crush on him. Maybe if it had gone on a bit longer, we may have seen a bit more layers of that.

At its core, it's about friendship and being outside the "cool" zone in much the way Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV) is, or Harry Potter. While the core here of Harris, Hugo, and Finella are not necessarily fighting to save the world on a weekly basis, they are struggling to make it from day to day, something everyone can relate to. Blockbuster material maybe not, but still worth it, in my opinion. Much fun and a few good laughs.

good, really good

Warning: Spoilers
Seriosuly weird is wonderful, it's original and guarantees at least one smile per episode. The actors were wonderfully cast and are REALLY good. who cares if the high school is stereotypical, the show isn't. And to seriously weirds merit, the problem isn't always solved with the main characters having to battle against a large monster (but when they do, they do it well.) For instance in one episode the whole problem is solved by Harris simply "Taking" a pudding cup. The plot outlines are excellent and really original. Seriosuly weird is definitely one of the better kids shows out there, it's a real shame it never got off the ground because it has excellent potential.

Serious Consideration

It's like Buffy for the younger kids, but without the blood, the ultra punchy scripts, and Angel.

Not that Seriously Weird is completely without merit. The premise is sound, often well executed (although some episodes fall flat, and when this show fails it fails badly), and with a mild-mannered comment on the stereotyped American highschool characters and settings that are always so common on our screens (even some Aussie soaps are starting to mirror their US counterparts these days).

Seriously Weird is a gentle distraction to an afternoon (at least while waiting for the Doctor Who repeats here on ABC at the moment) and while it doesn't manage the fantastic all the time, it easily makes the standard where other shows with seemingly more potential fail to meet.

A very original fun-to-watch series

I came upon this show while flipping through channels, and found it quite amuzing. Since then I have not missed an episode. Though sort of low budget (just like any Canadian or Uk production) this show is orignal and suprisingly entertaining. It has a very good story line and is exciting and weird, I enjoy weird shows. Characters are relatable, somw times it is cheesy, but funny. I just wish they made more episodes. I have turned this series into a weekly routine. The Weird god is very cool, yet cheesy but this whole show is cheesy and thats what entertains me. The actors are all pretty good, except the restaurant owner who exposes Harris to the Greek tool that eventually leads to his curse from the weird god. Overall this show is very entertaing and gives you a break from mainstream sitcoms.

Seriously a Waste of time
reduxdewill14 December 2003
YTV has a history of bringing the viewing audience shows that seem half empty. We have the punch line, annoying kid gets cursed by an interdimensional being after offending him. But we never reach a point in which we actually see the curse. Weird things happen. But this is not what the being threatens Harris with. The being stated that he was going to ruin Harris' life. This hardly happens. Thus turning a half way decent idea into pure crap.

Some episodes are slightly entertaining. While others make you want to hunt down the writers, and do bad things to them. Plain and simple, this is a serious waste of time.
