In the eighth episode of THE COLLEGIANS, there is, for once, no sporting event. I was expecting some field-and-track event from the title, but no. Neither, of course, is there anything having to do with class work. Almost a century ago, apparently, people did not go to college to learn anything. They went to college so they could be freshmen, oppressed and kicked by upper class men, and even later, upper class men, who then kicked freshmen.
One would think that, not having enjoyed being a freshman because of the lousy treatment, some of them would do better. But that, apparently, was not going to happen, because no one ever went to a class and learned about, oh, ethics.
So it's mostly students ragging on each other. I suppose that's how the faculty maintained their control.
