subtle, brilliant and innovative...a real gem

Like many of us, I go and watch movies...like many of us, I am often disappointed.I went to watch this film without really knowing what to expect. Since then, I am slightly obsessed with it. It left me pleasantly surprised and intrigued....as I like to be after watching a good movie. The story is about this captivating couple with whom we live and go through all the emotions from the first minute to the last one.The locations are magnificient, exotic and some shots are just amazingly beautiful.Creativity and pure emotions are subtily and skillfully mixed.Special mention for the actors. I can not add anything else as I truly think that this is a movie which has to be seen. Fresh and innovative , still very subtle and elegant. This is the first work of this filmmaker who is, according to this, very promising. A pure gem...

An elliptical reassessment of a breaking marriage.

I had the good fortune of watching this film at a screening at the British Film Institute. 'Refuge' marks the birth of a major new talent. Here's a director who has internalised the spirit of Antonioni and married it to his own unique vision. Great performances from Philip Tabor, Sarita Chowdhury and Madeline Potter. What's the film about? Who cares. Just watch it whenever you can.
