Ibiza Uncovered is a documentary series which follows the lives of 18-30 year olds on holiday in Ibiza. The documentary focuses mainly on how much sex they are having (if any) and their drunken antics. The Holiday programme this ain't. This documentary is pure exploitation. It is overly salacious and in places ridicules the people involved. However it also encouraged the creation of many sequels: 'Greece Uncovered', 'Carribean Uncovered' and 'Ibiza Uncovered II'. There have also been other documentaries made which copy the formula, e.g. ITV's 'Club Reps'.
Technically the series is run-of-the-mill. There's all the clichéd shots of sunsets and sandy beaches inhabited by topless women. The editing is also uninspiring and serves merely to tie the footage (roughly) together. There are some good points: Lisa I'Anson does a very good job with the commentary. She delivers tongue-in-cheek lines with good timing and ease. The soundtrack is also good; there are a few Dance classics used like: Alison Limericks's 'Where Love Lives'.
The people featured are as you would expect. The typical exhibitionistic Brits abroad. They regularly boast in front of the camera about their shagging and drug usage. Many of the stories told are quite entertaining and funny but some are plain boring.
Overall a hugely commercially successful (and hugely salacious) series with the saving grace of being one of the first of its kind because similar copycat series' which followed were no better.
