Irene Ryan is suing Tim Ryan for divorce. After Tim gives his testimony, and Irene's family are thrown off the witness stand by the judge, Irene gives testimony that keeps changing as the audience sees it in flashback.
It's another of the shorts that Tim & Irene Ryan made that used her crazy family, and in this one, they turn the absurdity all the way up, with lots of split-screen work to permit her to be in three or four place at once, as she tells it.
The Ryans did eventually get divorced, although almost certainly not for the reasons cited in this short. Tim would die in 1956, aged 57; Irene in 1973, aged 70.
