Gymnasium Exercises and Drill at Newport Training School (1900)
This was one of several shorts that Edison shot at the Newport training school in Rhode Island. The title pretty much tells you everything you need to know as the camera stays in one spot for 78-seconds and captures the men exercising one morning. The interesting thing about this short is just seeing a part of the past and seeing what these men did to get warmed up in the morning. If you're not a fan of early cinema then it's doubtful this movie is going to change your mind but if you enjoy this stuff then this one here is fun. It's funny to see that the majority of people are more worried about the camera than anything else as they're constantly looking over at it and I'm guessing the majority are just doing this to see if they're still filming or not.
