I have read this is a remake of Kenka Gasa - Fighting Disposition (1958) but as I have not seen that movie I have no idea which one is best.
This is not a crime movie but more a lighthearted movie about a young hothead that gets into trouble and his father (the boss) sends him away to stay with another yakuza boss to grow wiser and maybe fall in love with that boss daughter.
This is by no mean a serious or grim movie. You should not see it for the fighting scenes as there are not many and they are not the focus of the movie. There is a big fight in the end but still not what would justify it for someone watching it for the sword fights. I would say it is a sweet and romantic movie with a light mood most of the time.
I did enjoy the movie a lot but do not expect a serious samurai movie. then you will be disappointed.
