In the scene where Cole is in a firefight in the forest, he starts off with a mp5 without a scope and he goes back and forth with an AK-47 with a scope.

Serbia, which was the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia at the time, was suspended from the UN because of it's support for Serb rebels in the neighboring nations of Croatia and Bosnia, where civil wars occurred in the first half of the 1990's.
