A young man (Mace Greenleaf) in great need of a thousand dollars, appeals to his friend who owes him that amount. This man, who had been his unsuccessful rival in love, sends him a check and then accuses him of forgery. In a good trial scene, he is found guilty and serves in prison clothes. But the villain feels remorse and although he marries the girl (Miss Cornwall) he takes care of the prisoner's mother. This keeps the prisoner, when he is released, from taking vengeance on his enemy. It is very melodramatic and not very convincing nor effective. The saving grace of the picture is the natural acting of Miss Cornwall and of Mr. Greenleaf. - The Moving Picture World, March 16, 1912
