Continuation of the movie Dong Fangjian (1982)
Literal translation of the title: Blue whale urgently dispatched.
Based on the true story of failed ex-Soviet attempt to obtain China's Sea-launched ballistic missile secrets. This is the continuation of the movie released three years earlier, Dong Fangjian, which was based on the failed ex-Soviet espionage attempt to obtain the same secrets. Like its predecessor, this movie is the dramatized version of the ex-Soviet attempt, describing what happened when they failed on land in China.
The so-called foreign vessels were ex-Soviet navy ships ostensibly described by the former-USSR as "scientific and research ship", and there were actually more than one, and some of them warships. The ex-USSR naval force had mission to recover the re-entry vehicle of the Chinese ballistic test missile, because the re-entry vehicle was the payload full of vital data. China got the re-entry vehicle and Soviet failed again.
