A good intension gone bad
zzmale31 March 2004
The literal translation of the title of this movie is: The Chinese King of Gamblers.

This movie had been criticized left and right in China because it has the unexpected negative result. The original intent, at least according to the film maker is to warn people the problem of gambling, but in the movie, the king of gamblers and other gamblers were described in a way that despite the fact that they are bad guys, their actions appeared to be heroic. Such approach enraged many Chinese parents who accused this movie of creating a negative image about something bad, but the controversy did help the success at the box office.
