O Canada, you have a controversy on your hands. A performance of the Canadian national anthem at the Mlb All-Star Game on Tuesday by The Tenors stirred outrage on social media, thanks to altered lyrics that contained the phrase “all lives matter.” According to CBC, the quartet changed the lyrics to, “We’re all brothers and sisters. All lives matter to the great.” Also Read: TV's Judge Hatchett Vows Justice for Philando Castile's Family The phrase “all lives matter” is regarded by many as a response to the Black Lives Matter movement, which has gained widespread attention due to a number of high-profile shootings.

The family of Philando Castile — the Minnesota man who was fatally shot by police earlier this month — has just gained a powerful legal ally. Or at least a familiar one, to fans of court-centric reality TV. Glenda Hatchett, best known as the titular star of the syndicated offering “Judge Hatchett,” said during a press conference on Tuesday that she will sue on behalf of Castile’s family, the Associated Press reported. Speaking near the Minnesota state Capitol, Hatchett declared, “I am now stepping beyond the bench, the other side of the bench.” Also Read: NRA Breaks Silence on Philando Castile Death.

The Montel Williams Show will end its run at the end of this season after 17 years on the air.
CBS Television Distribution, the syndicated show's producer and distributor, is offering a compilation series, the Best of Montel, for fall, which includes 52 weeks of highlight episodes from the show.
"We have been honored to have 'Montel' as a part of our family for the past 17 years, and we're very excited that 'Montel' will live on through these 'best of' episodes," said John Nogawski, president and COO of CBS TV Distribution.
CBS TV Distribution's move mirrors one by Sony Pictures TV, which recently announced it will cease production on veteran court show Judge Hatchett after the end of its current eighth season and will cull from the series' library to present 52 themed weeks for fall.

Sony Pictures Television is trying something new with Judge Hatchett next season.
Rather than offering original episodes, SPT is culling from the syndicated court show's 1,200-episode library to present 52 themed weeks, revolving around topics that could include celebrity interventions or creative sentencing.
"There are so many themes that run through the show that it's very promotable for stations," SPT president of distribution John Weiser said. It's been really well-received.
He said the TV stations that air the strip will have 260 "unique" telecasts throughout the year, so that no episodes will be repeated during the 52 weeks.
Asked what spurred the new format, Weiser said: "We saw this as a great opportunity. We were discussing different ideas with the stations, and this is something they really responded to."
Bill Carroll, vp and director of programming at station-rep firm Katz Television Group, sees it as a good move for the studio and the stations.
"Given the multitude of episodes they have in the library, they're able to theme the programs and get the biggest advantage over the production that they've already done," he said.

Sony Pictures Television said Thursday that it will offer stations clearing The Greg Behrendt Show the ability to stream same-day episodes of the upcoming talk/relationship strip on their Web sites. SPT said that episodes of the show, which launches in syndication in the fall, will be made available for a 24-hour period on the day of broadcast. The complete broadcast version of each one-hour episode will be streamed online, including all advertising, with viewers unable to fast-forward through the commercials. SPT said this makes Greg Behrendt the first first-run syndicated show to be streamed online, but plans are in the works to offer the same capability for SPT's syndicated court shows: Judge Maria Lopez, which launches in the fall, and veteran Judge Hatchett. The news comes on the heels of Warner Bros. Television Group's announcement Monday regarding a new business model that will give the stations that buy the off-network rights to Two and a Half Men, launching in fall 2007, the right to also stream episodes on their Web sites. But that model differs in that stations will stream the previous week's five aired episodes rather than the same-day episodes, and advertising time will be sold specifically for the Web episodes.

Station reps did not return calls by press time. Separately, WBDTD said that it has sold the weekend broadcast syndication window for off-net dramas Without a Trace and Cold Case to the Viacom Television Stations Group. The weekend runs of Trace debut in fall 2006; Cold Case in fall 2007.
