Masterpiece of critic work on the Cultural Revolution
zzmale18 March 2004
The literal translation of the title of this movie is: the Wind and Moon of Mountain Village.

This movie is a masterpiece of critic work on the Cultural Revolution in that it accurately depicted the complete lack of personal liberty and the total collapse of the legal system due to the Cultural Revolution, even somewhere as remote as this mountain village could not escape the claws of the Cultural Revolution.

The fate of the protagonists suffers is exactly the result of lack legal procedures because there was no chance to present their side of the story, and in fact, there was not even the process of going to the court system. This important aspect is often ignored by the audience because for most of the movie is concentrated on what happened afterward. Audience should not ignore this because it started what was to happen later.
