Can the spirit of a dog force its former master to get married? Here's an astounding trailer for Best Friend From Heaven...
There's far too much cynicism in the world these days. So thank goodness, then, for wholesome films like Best Friend From Heaven - the forthcoming romantic comedy about a woman, her dead dog, and its ghost's attempts to get her hitched.
Wait, what?
We'll let the official synopsis explain:
When a tragic accident takes the life of her dog, Tara is forced to cancel her wedding. With a little help from above, their small town rallies together to make sure these two are able to have the wedding of their dreams.
Yes, it's heart-warming stuff, alright, at least once you get past the bit where the dog's tragically flattened by a car while chasing a squirrel. Once the canine's up in heaven, it's laughs all the way down,...

Kevin Spacey turns into a cat. Christopher Walken. We take a closer look at the Kafka-esque comedy, Nine Lives..
“When Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from troubled dreams, he found himself changed into a monstrous cockroach in his bed.”

So goes the first line in Franz Kafka’s classic short story, Metamorphosis - a tiny, existential drama subject to all kinds of interpretations since its publication in 1915. Even that famous opening line is open to interpretation, as this Guardian piece points out: did Kafka really mean that poor, unfortunate Gregor woke up as a cockroach, another kind of insect, or something else entirely? The German phrase he uses, “Ungeheuren Ungeziefer” loosely translates to “enormous vermin.”
Whatever Gregor becomes, it’s something pitiful and helpless; he can no longer work, and gradually, he’s shunned by his own family.

We’re all pretty tough on Gary Busey, considering what he’s gone through. The dude cheated death in the late ’80s after wiping out on his motorcycle, receiving serious head trauma and becoming a poster child for bike helmets forevermore. During an operation to repair his damaged brain after the crash, Busey literally died for a short time! “I saw angels,” the actor told Larry King back in 2005. “I was surrounded by angels. And they don’t look like what they look like on Christmas cards. They’re big balls of light that float and carry nothing but love and warmth.”
But always the professional, Gary drew on his near death experience while making the 2003 movie Quigley. The (reportedly terrible) film featured Busey as a man who died and came back to earth in the body of a small dog. But the day he arrived on the set decorated like heaven,...

Gary Busey: actor. Vitamin Water spokesperson. Bridge to the other side! Videogum brought to our attention this amazing portion of the A.V. Club's interview with Revenge of the Nerds actor Curtis Armstrong, in which he remembers his time working with Gary Busey on the movie Quigley. Not surprising: Gary Busey sounds kind of crazy. Perhaps a bit shocking: Gary Busey has been to Heaven, and he is very sure of what it looks like. And Heaven definitely has no mirrors, you guys. (I guess angels do your hair and makeup for you? Some might say that such things are unnecessary when you live in a realm of metaphysical grace, but if there are no drag queens in Heaven then you can count me out.) The whole story is really amazing: Avc: Yeah, sorry for dragging this one up. But this was a movie where you appeared alongside [...]...

On Dec. 4, 1988, actor Gary Busey crashed his motorcycle in a highway guardrail and suffered serious head trauma, something compounded by the fact that he wasn't wearing a helmet. During the two hours of neurosurgery to repair Busey's damaged brain, the actor died on the operating table.
"I saw angels," Busey recalled during an interview with Larry King in 2005. "I was surrounded by angels. And they don't look like what they look like on Christmas cards. They're big balls of light that float and carry nothing but love and warmth."
If only the production designer on the long-forgotten film "Quigley" consulted with Busey. The 2003 feature starred Busey as a man who dies and comes back to Earth as a Pomeranian dog (it looks as bad as that description; watch above), and apparently featured some inaccurate depictions of heaven.
Recalled co-star Curtis Armstrong to A/V Club Toronto (via Vulture):

Ok, quick backstory to this one. In 2003, Gary Busey starred in a Christian movie about a wealthy man who hates dogs but then he dies and turns into a dog named Quigley and as a dog he has to find a CD-Rom and also help his brother and his family but it’s tough cause he’s peeing everywhere. Once again: Gary Busey is a rich man. He dies. He comes back as a white Pomeranian named Quigley. He has to do something with CD-Roms. This is from 2003. This is real. The Found Footage People have graciously watched through this entire movie and cut it into the following bafflingly digestible highlight reel: Ahh, the medium of video: Things are recorded on it so you can watch them and be like “see, there’s that.” I never would’ve expected the actual movie could’ve possibly lived up to the amazing...
