Standard political propaganda of that particular time
zzmale30 January 2004
This political propaganda has little or no artistic value but is still worth watching because of its political value:

This movie is the standard political propaganda of that particular era of China: the era between the end of the Cultural Revolution and the beginning of the reform.

During this short era, China was controlled by Mao's supporters who opposed the Gang of Four and the Cultural Revolution, but still supported Mao's doctrine, and when they ended the Cultural Revolution and arrested the Gang of Four, they tried to make excuse for Mao and the Cultural Revolution he launched by blaming the Gang of Four for everything, including the catastrophic Cultural Revolution which Mao was directly responsible.

This movie is the typical reflection of the reflection of those Mao's supporters who dominated China before the reform was implemented in China.
