German telenovela
eustfam25 September 2004
Warning: Spoilers
This is a continuation of the series "Antonia"--after her husband, Count Leonhardt is killed within 10 minutes of their wedding... The grieving widow, Antonia, suspects that the killer is still out there and realizes almost too late that he was just beside her all the time. After a long car chase, Antonia's car crashes but she miraculously survives and the film ends with Moritz, Leonhardt's brother reassuringly beside her. Antonia--Tranen In Paradies resumes 2 years after the accident. Antonia is now married to Moritz, they have a child, Marie (with whom she was pregnant at the time of the accident). Antonia is now happily married and everything seems perfect until complications set in to mar her happiness again. Will her marriage survive the trials?

I enjoyed watching this film as it concluded Antonia's fairy tale of a life...poor girl meets rich boy, gets married, although husband gets killed...girl inherits husband's fortune...takes over his financial empire and even manages to get married again(!)...this time to her handsome and charming brother-in-law. Only people who enjoy soap operas like me will probably like this film--the events move fast, it has all the ingredients of a successful soap--romance, intrigue, suspense, and a happy ending! Benjamin Sadler as Moritz is the icing on the cake--what more can I ask for?

Show on Quebec TV - Part I of Antonia in 2005
mhluc-18 August 2006
Well, It was last year I discovered Antonia in Quebec Channel and I had enjoyed the series.

The TV channel is doing a re-run and after that we will have Part II of Antonia, after morning the death of her husband Leonard.

I cannot comment on Part II yet, after my discovery of Part II , I will be able to comment.

It would be nice we could have both on DVD in Enlish or French version, I would like to have them as collection.

Please do contact us if there will be a DVD collection on the TV series on Antonia.

Thanks Marie

German TV Drama NOT Telenovela
Anais_Anais22 July 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Firstly, I just have to say that this is NOT a telenovela. Its format is NOT the traditional structure of a telenovela. Really, people should do more research before they make fools of themselves misusing media terms. This is a television DRAMA, pure and simple. And a very good one at that. The dialogue is crisp and the action throughout is well-paced. The settings are, of course, wonderful, and the cinematography has its moments. But the true gems here are the actors. Alexandra Kamp is effective, convincing, and sympathetic as Antonia, and Moritz is quite the charmer. It's too bad that the character of Count Ahrendorff (Antonia's husband) had to be killed of so early. He was eye candy, as well.
