Not "Evil Dead," but...
lucy_goldo_wincha2 March 2005
This review of German release- not yet available in UK...

From their website, and from the text on the rear of the disc case (if you can read German), you'd think they're promoting it as the next "Evil Dead," which is rather misinformed. This movie is NOT "Evil Dead" - not even close, but it's an otherwise fun little no-budget romp. The blue tinting got to be bothersome after a time, but I noticed that other colours would resurface during the splatter scenes, which helped. The acting and story are not the best, but I think that is the point- especially considering the budget - I had not problem with it. The sound is rather front-heavy, but has plenty of silly sound-effects in some scenes. And I think that's what helps - it's a silly little horror film with clichés and ridiculous situations, but that's the fun of no-budget splatter. Anyone who takes this too seriously is missing the point.

A COMEDIC HORROR MOVIE THAT COULD BE A CULT CLASSIC!
sawyertom19 June 2003
Move over Sam Raimi, you got competition! Dead Undead is a nice little comedic thriller made in the same vein as Raimi's Evil Dead and Army of Darkness Classic's.You can see the impact and influence Raimi has had on other Michigan filmmakers. These filmmakers have learned Raimi's lessons well. It is hard to believe they shot this movie in under a week and for only $1000. The comedy, the horror, the suspense is all there in a very well told story. Some higher budget horror movies that came out were not as good as this. This movie might not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you loved the Evil Dead Army of Darkness series of movies then this fits right in there. This movie would make the master Michigan moviemaker Raimi proud that he had students of his films that did such a nice job of trying to follow in his footsteps. The movie was very atmospheric and the story was excellent. The acting was tongue in cheek and not bad for first time efforts of the cast. The only thing missing was a young and new Bruce Campbell. All, in all this was one entertaining film. A film that Michigan and independent film fans can proudly look to.This is a nice little horror movie that I am sure in time will be a cult classic.I look forward to this groups next movie. If it's half as entertaining as Dead Undead it will be great!

sure to be the next cult classic!

Dead? or Undead? This is a great little movie that was so fun and entertaining you'll want to see it twice. In the vein of Buffy the Vampire Slayer the Series, this film has all the aspects to make it a sure fire cult classic. Dead/Undead has all the aspects of the next horror/comedy classic, from spooky monsters to screaming girls in their underwear, you can't find more fun for your buck then Dead/Undead.

I went to the movie premiere and....

I'd have to say it was a pretty sweet low budget horror movie. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a copy to show some of my friends who I have recommended this movie to.

The coolest thing is probably how well the special effects were done even though it was such a low budget movie. I heard they made it on a weekend with about 1,000 dollars. Kind of inspiring really!

Interesting Little "B" Movie
eddiebrock9020 March 2003
Not too bad for only 4 days worth of shooting and a $1,000.00 budget. I can see where this movie borrows heavily from Evil Dead, and it works well in this film. The direction is pretty good, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. The female actors in this were lame, except for when they were naked. Stars Fox Valade and Thomas Galasso look like they might actually have a future in this business if they can ever do some bigger stuff. Don't get me wrong, this movie is by no means the second coming of Ben-Hur but it was good for what it was, and the directors of this will be successful when they get ahold of a real budget.
