Two independent souls need each other for a day
Havan_IronOak1 June 2004
A woman who's reached her 92nd birthday is denied a driver's license renewal based on her age. She's used to being independent and resents this governmental intrusion on her life.

Yes, there is a seniors' shuttle, but what if she doesn't have anyplace special that she needs to go? She just feels the need to be on the road.

When she meets a young man looking for work, she hires him to drive her and an uneasy friendship is born. Although neither really wants the other in their life, they both need something. She needs her mobility and he needs wages.

For a student short this was particularly well done as far as it goes. It did sort of leave the audience hanging. Neither character progressed much from where they started and we don't get much resolution for either. Yes, that's like real life but we generally expect more out of movies than we do real life.

The film maker did a credible job with this short and I look forward to seeing her next film.
