Three love stories highlight this week’s episode of The Strain as Zach, Fet, and Quinlan all experience loves won and loves lost in a week of betrayal, blood, and heartbreak. In the world of The Strain, this new dystopian world where the strigoi rule humans like cattle, love is a complex thing. How can one truly love another when one's lover could be dragged off and made into a veal chop by the strigoi overlords at any moment? But that doesn’t stop a few of our cast from trying. And the...

The Strain: Belly of the Beast Review The Strain, season 4, episode 5, ‘Belly of the Beast,’ left me with some pause, over its pacing. Now that the end of The Strain is in sight (five more episodes after this week, I believe), can we just all start begging FX for a Quinlan prequel series? I mean, who wouldn’t watch a series about an immoral, daywalking, altruistic vampire with an Uzi and a bone sword? This week, we get to see what a potential Quinlan spin-off would look like as the episode flashes back to Victorian England and focuses on Quinlan’s past.

Once again, I must apologize for the lateness of my review. Especially since the summer began, Saturdays have been a tad inconvenient. But rest assured that I’m still watching, exercising my critical eye, and preparing for the final few episodes of Turn: Washington’s Spies. “Belly of the Beast” served as one of the show’s most exciting hours, and set up an even more exciting final few episodes. Turn has become a really exciting show over the course of 4 years. Sure, it has had its problems and it’s not a perfect show, but it adds dramatic flair to a lot of things

The NCIS: Los Angeles season 8 premiere, titled "High-Value Target"/"Belly of the Beast," is one explosive ride -- and I'm not just talking about the helicopter getting shot out of the sky. The Office of Special Projects is taken over by the Under Secretary of Defense and his task force -- Granger steps up in such a big way that I can't remember why I ever didn't like him -- and one of the team members is seriously injured during a mission in Syria.
Once the action starts, mostly in the second half of the two-hour premiere, it never slows down. It's constantly a race for them -- against the unlikable Duggan and his equally unlikely right-hand woman Chen, against insurgents who know pretty much exactly where they are and against the clock when the life of one of their own is at risk.

For the last few years, I’ve taken it upon myself in my capacity as Sos co-founder and eternal DJ to gather up some of my favorite tracks of the year, along with excerpts of dialogue and scoring from some of my favorite films (and, this year, TV series!) of the year, and cram it into a mix that could fit onto a hypothetical CD-r. But since this has been the year of the mixtape (hello Guardians of the Galaxy, Mommy, and Boyhood), and since there’s been such an overwhelming bounty of great music to choose from, I opted for a “C120″ format – two “sides,” one hour each. Since non-film music is the one area of pop culture Sound on Sight will (hopefully) never devote a subsection to, it’s the one instance I allow myself every year to flex my geekery in this area.

Steven Seagal has made only one horror movie to date, and that was 2009's Against the Dark, in which he had a cameo that found him beating off vampires. Yet, here at Dread Central we've been known to cover the world of the bizarre and the paranormal. You're about to learn something about Seagal that is beyond bizarre...

Get your Finn ski caps on your head and your toy Golden Swords of Battle in hand because the fourth season of Adventure Time begins tonight. We spoke with Jeremy Shada, the voice of Finn the Human, who spoke briefly about voice acting and what to look for in the new season.
How has the voice for Finn evolved if any over the four seasons of Adventure Time?
Jeremy Shada: The character and the voice has not evolved but grown over time. When we first started it was a lot like the pilot. A lot of the times Finn would either just be screaming a lot or just kind of be down and talking. From there we tried to make more of an effort to give a wider range of what he does. I do a lot more different stuff now, which is cool.

In his recent book Monsters In The Movies, John Landis talks about how movies are one of the few art forms in which even the bad examples can be enjoyed. The director of ‘American Werewolf In London’ and ‘The Blues Brothers’ further argued this notion with a recent interview with Tor.com.
“Movies have this unique power over books, music, or paintings. We’ll watch a bad movie. If we see a bad painting, we’ll not linger on it for hours at a time, we’ll walk way. But we don’t do that with movies. We’ll sit through them”
Landis is absolutely right, and it’s now increasingly common for awful movies to cultivate their own cult fanbases, as well as recognition for being some of the worst of all time.
In celebration of good-bad movies everywhere, here’s my personal pick of 10 of the most enjoyable bad movies ever made.

In Defence Of: Above The Law (1988, Davis) Nowadays, we know Steven Seagal as the aging, overweight Dtv star from such flops as Belly Of The Beast, Attack Force and Into The Sun. His career has slowly but surely been whittled down by rumours of sexual mischief, debt and apparent dealings with the CIA and the mob. Not too mention the fact that the man has really and truly let himself go physically. With all of that in mind, it's almost bittersweet when you realize that Steven Seagal was once an A-list action star. From 1988 to 1996, Seagal starred alongside such Hollywood heavy-hitters as Kurt Russell, Tommy Lee Jones and Halle Berry in blockbuster action films that grossed a lot of money. And one of those films is today's Ido... Released in the Summer of 1988 in the United States, Above The Law (simply titled Nico in other territories), starred newcomer Steven Seagal as Nico Toscani,...

No jokes – Image Entertainment will release Belly of the Beast July 19th, the latest action film from Steven Seagal. That title leads to some jabs at Seagal’s gut, I know, I know, but man does this guy turn out the Dtv action movies? Except this was filmed and released in 2003, but it makes its HD debut now.
Seagal stars as Jake Hopper, an ex-cia agent who goes on a tirade after his daughter is kidnapped by Islamic fundamentalists in Thailand. The film also stars Byron Mann (Street Fighter).

But when its control unit malfunctions during a test run, the S11 is accidentally unleashed and sets off in the direction of the popular tourist resort of Puerto Vallarta in Mexico.
Desperate to keep the creature’s existence secret and to avoid a bloody massacre that is almost certain to attract unwanted attention, the military leaders hire Sands, Nicole and a notorious shark hunter to track down...

Beware Sharktopus! Whilst a monster that is ‘half shark, half octopus, all killer’, as the advertising blurb (quite accurately) describes it, might not be top of the list of obvious aquatic menaces, the wacky premise certainly promises a great deal of fun. This is even more so given the presence of B-movie legend Roger Corman, and a half decent helmer in the form of Declan O’Brien, whose “Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead” made a respectable attempt at bucking the law of decreasing returns. As is usually the case with this type of film, the cast includes a sprinkling of semi-famous faces, namely the always fun Eric Roberts (who recently returned to the big screen with “The Expendables”), Sara Malakul Lane (“Belly Of The Beast”) and Us TV host and former Miss USA Shandi Finnessey. With its ridiculous creature having whipped up a fair amount of interest, the film...

I don’t know about you, but the mere concept of a hybrid two of the seas’ scariest creatures blows my mind. SyFy brings you Roger Corman’s (Space 3001, Death Race) Sharktopus Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 9pm Et/Pt. Check out the synopsis of Sharktopus and three promo clips below!
The wait is over! After months of Internet viral buzz, Roger Corman’s eagerly anticipated Sharktopus — starring Oscar and Golden Globe nominee Eric Roberts — will premiere on Syfy Saturday, September 25, at 9Pm (Et/Pt).
In Sharktopus, Roberts (The Expendables/The Dark Knight) plays a research scientist who, with his talented daughter (Sara Malakul Lane/Belly of the Beast), develops a secret military weapon — a hybrid shark/octopus that can be controlled by electrical implants. But when the controls break down, the monster goes on a killing rampage at the resort beaches of Mexico.

Steven Seagal has made some of my favorite movies of all time, like “Out for Justice”, “Hard to Kill”, “Above the Law”, “Under Siege”. He’s also made some unwatchable garbage, but that’s beside the point. His fight with Dan Inosanto in “Out for Justice” is on my short list of best fights ever. In honor of “Machete”, his first theatrically released movie in quite some time, I thought I would see what else he’s been up to and watch something recent. Even though his movies haven’t found their way to the local mega-plex, we all know that Seagal has been prolific in the direct-to-video market, knocking out three or four movies a year. And even though few people believe me, every third or fourth one of those is pretty good (“Urban Justice” and “Belly of the Beast” are prime examples). Unfortunately, “A Dangerous Man”, his most current Dtv release,...
